The Trinity Dilemma & The Infinity Paradox | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
The Trinity Dilemma & The Infinity Paradox
Jonathan Cahn speaks about one of the most mysterious, controversial, and fought over doctrines of the faith, and yet there exists an answer in the pages of the Bible itself – beginning with the Hebrew meaning of Ain Katseh. The Father has no end. He is infinite. The paradox and argument of the trinity is explained with the meaning of infinity.

In Israel there’s the sea of life and the sea of death. The Galilee is alive. The Dead Sea is dead. The Galilee is always giving water. The Dead Sea only receives water, but it doesn’t give anything. The one who gives is alive but the one who only gets is dead. The sea of life is always flowing into the Sea of Death; it never stops flowing. So is the heart of life. At the heart of life you’re not limited by people who don’t give you love or who are selfish, because you’re a person of life. The more you give, the more alive you become and it doesn’t matter whether the people give back to you or not. Love those who don’t love you. Bless those who don’t bless you. Love your enemies and pray for those that persecute you. Don’t let their lack of love stop you from flowing in God’s blessings. Don’t be overcome by evil. Overcome evil with good. Keep blessing, loving and giving. Because God called you to be like the ever flowing sea of life and not like the sea of death.
One infinity plus one infinity plus one infinity. What does that equal one infinity?
One plus one plus one equals one.
When is infinite father of eternity.
Now, that can be taken as the father of eternity or, or the source, the that which gives birth to eternity.
He’s the one eternity comes from God.
And it’s, it’s a, it’s born of God, a child is like the father.
So God must have be have the nature of eternity. No limitations.
Now, it also says Isaiah nine says of the increase of his government, Messiah, when he reigns on earth, there shall be no end.
There shall be no end to it. There no end.
Now, the word in Hebrew, the key word for end is the word Kates.
Try it or, and that’s where this is means the end or the, the extremes, the borders, the, the, the limitations, the the end.
Now the word for no one of the words for there is no, is the word aim, try, aim, aim, there is no aim.
There is not a, is one of the names that they, that the, that Jewish people may call God because it means from the Bible.
He who was without end, he has no end. He is the he has no, no finishing.
There’s no limit on God, there’s no ending to it at all.
So in eternity and you know, with time that means forever, but in space, it means infinity. He is infinite.
Psalm 1 45 says great is the Lord and greatly to be praised and his greatness is, is, is without, there’s no limitation on it.
Psalm 1 47 verse five says great is our Lord and and of great power, his, his under his understanding is without number.
There’s no number to him. In the book of job, it speaks of the sovereignty of God and it speaks of, it says who does great things?
And he’s unsearchable. He is infinite. You can, you can translate that great things and infinite. God is infinite first.
He means He’s without any end. There’s no limit on God.
There’s no border on God, there’s no limitation on God.
It says in, in Isaiah 57 it says for thus says the high and lofty one that inhabits eternity in the, in the Hebrew.
It says he sets up his tent in forever.
He sets up his tent like a space but forever in, in, in, in infinity.
So God is eternal and God is infinite in Hebrew.
And he’s the one with no limitation, no barrier. You can’t number God. He’s beyond it.
Now, if you take that, that’s Hebrew, you take it into Latin, it becomes the word for what’s the word for in Latin?
For limit? For end, the word finish finite, finite, finalize finish.
That means an end, finite end.
So to be without, and if you say uh if you say in, you get the word infinite God is without, and that’s clearly what the Bible says.
He is infinite. Now, let’s go back to the problem, the dilemma or the mystery of the people try to figure this out.
And again, people will, people will say some people say you.
In fact, I got this when I first became a believer from Jewish people. Oh, you believe in three gods?
No, you don’t believe. You know, Christianity is the Christian faith is the same as, as it’s the biblical faith.
There is clearly one God. It’s called monotheistic faith.
It only there’s one God, not three gods, one God, but three persons.
So, are we gonna solve this tonight?
This is, this is believers, great theologians throughout the ages have struggled with this to for thousands of years and we’re supposed to solve it in a service.
Can we do that? Why not? Let’s try to solve it.
Well, listen, God says, my thoughts are higher than your thoughts, my ways higher than your ways.
So again, we can’t fully understand Him. That’s ok. That’s part of faith.
We can’t, it, we don’t comprehend God. God. God understands us. That’s enough. We don’t understand him.
However, however, see the problem with all these arguments against the Trinity and the problem with many of the arguments or the explanations that are supposed to be for the Trinity is they make a mistake.
They treat God as if he was finite.
In other words, you treat God as if he was an object like everything else in the universe.
But he’s not. You see, that’s our experience, our mind processes like that in the natural.
You can’t have it in the natural. You can’t have one is three and three cannot be one that’s natural.
But we have to make sure like if you’re doing that, you gotta make sure you’re using the right, the right figures.
If you’re doing something, if you’re trying to figure something out about about 10 people and you use the number 18, it’s not gonna, it’s not gonna work, it’s not gonna give you anything.
So God is not finite. Even people who are not religious can get that.
They may not know what it means. But OK, I understand God is infinite.
Well, you cannot talk about what is infinite using finite terms.
You cannot talk about what is infinite as if he were finite or you’re gonna have an error.
So you have to use the language of infinity, the laws of infinity, the math of infinity.
When you deal with the realm of the finite and you add two numbers together when you add two, number two plus two, you’re always gonna get another number.
That’s not the same as the one you added.
And it’s gonna be greater than the one you added two plus two equals four.
One plus one plus one equals three. It’s never going to equal one.
But that’s why the Trinity doesn’t work with finite thinking.
That’s why it, but the, but the, but God is more than that.
So when you translate this into infinity, everything changes.
Let me show you one plus one plus one equals three.
Now, if you say one God plus one, God plus one, God equals three Gods, that’s correct.
But that’s not the Trinity. That’s all right. Now, let’s correct it.
It’s not what we’re talking about instead of one plus one plus one equals three. Let’s do it.
Let’s do what it is. God is infinite one infinity plus one infinity plus one infinity.
What is that equal one infinity? One plus one plus one equals one.
When it’s infinite three infinities are the same as one infinity, one infinity.
God, the father, another second infinite one, the son, third infinite one, the spirit equals one.
Or, or let’s just take, let’s, let’s do it. Let’s do it another way here.
Let’s put, let’s put it to the scripture in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God.
OK? In math, you got one and you got one, the word was with God.
That’s two but in, in what it, when you translate it into infinity, one plus one, the fathers are equals one.
I and the father are one hero, Israel, Shamara hero Israel, the Lord, one infinite.
Our God infinite. The Lord infinite is one infinite. That’s exactly what it comes out to.
Let’s do it another way.
Let’s, let’s, let’s, let’s get because, because I, I have faith that you guys are sharp people tonight.
You are advanced tonight. So we’re going from that, we’re gonna go to a different, we’re gonna go to division any sum or number divided by another number is gonna end equal a, a different number that’s gonna be smaller than the original.
OK? Four divided by two equals. You’re so smart.
I told you I told equals two and it or any number equal can equal a fraction for instance, one divided by two equals 1/2 half.
So it works with the egg. The egg is divided into three parts.
So it’s one third, one, third, one third about that. That always works.
But God is not one third of God.
So, so what, so, so what happens that let’s say let’s put it another way.
You got a pie, you slice it into 12 pieces. Each piece is 1/12 of the pie, correct? OK.
But watch what happens when you bring an infinity. You have it in, you have a, an an infinite pie.
You have an infinity pie, you slice it into 12 pieces. Each piece is as big as the pie.
Let me say, let’s take a pie divided by three.
You get three pieces of a pie, one third of the pie.
But we’re not talking about an apple pie. We’re talking about infinity here.
So if you divide up a pie that’s infinite into three, each piece will be as big as the pie because each piece is infinite.
What? Let me put it on. OK? Wait, it’s one third. What’s one third of infinity? Infinity?
You if you cut infinity into three, it’s still infinity.
You understand, it doesn’t matter what you cut infinity into.
It’s still if it’s, if it’s one third of infinity, infinity is forever, that one third is going forever too.
So therefore, the Trinity is one but infinite. Therefore divided by three.
The father, the son, the spirit, each is infinite 13 and one become the same.
The Son is God, the father is God and the spirit is God.
So in the finite, it can’t work.
But in the infinite next time somebody tells you this doesn’t work at all.
Say, wait a minute, you don’t understand about infinity because you can do because that’s exactly what it is.
God is infinite. Everything equals out exactly as it says, we were dealing with God as if he wasn’t God.
But if you deal with God as he is, it changes everything. But what does that mean for you?
Because I always wanna bring it home to you.
How do you imply the, how do you apply the infinity of God into your life?
You know, let’s say, let’s say, let’s say you had a room full of books.
How long would it take you to read it?
It would take you a long time if you had a whole room of books.
How about a whole library of books? How long it could take you years to know that?
How long does it take you to know God forever?
That’s why we have forever because that’s how long it takes. That’s the number it takes.
And that’s why we’re never to stop seeking God. That’s where the life is.
That’s where revival is. Then how can you, how can you have God who has no end?
The a, the a, the one with no end. And yet we have limitations all over.
You start learning, we start learning to live a life and a cut life.
A life that has no limit.
Mean a heart that is a heart that is not, has no border, has no closing on it.
It doesn’t close up, it can’t close up. It’s open, that’s the unlimited heart.
That’s the heart that’s gonna be blessed continuously by God. Only an unlimited heart can know an unlimited God.
Only an open heart can know that only a heart without that without limitation.
So let’s put it, just put it, let’s put the math to the Bible, God, the infinite God so loved you infinitely with an infinite love that He gave infinitely to you.
His infinitely only begotten son that you would infinitely believe in Him, receive him and you would infinitely not perish, but would have infinite everlasting life.
It’s not just that God is without end. His love is without end.
His love is without end. His love never fails, never gives up.
It’s gonna way, way bigger than I am way bigger than you are.
Thank God that God is infinite and that His love is infinite. Because too often our love is not infinite.
You know, somebody use up, that’s it. But the love of God in us is infinite.
The love of God to us is infinite. You can never exhaust it. They are new.
It is new every morning. So too is His goodness is without end.
So too, his peace is without end. So His blessings are without end. His wonders are without end.
His power is without end and limitation. And his, his, his compassion is without end.
You’re never gonna outlive it. You’re never gonna exhaust it without end whatever you’ve known of God.
There’s more for you to know He’s bigger. It’s bigger, it’s better.
It’s more awesome than anything we have ever fathomed.
Your eyes have not seen, your ears have not yet heard and the heart of us has not yet imagined what God has for us and how awesome He is open your heart, open your faith, open your life that it might be without barriers but open and seek for more than you have ever known.
And God’s gonna show he says, seek me and you will find me when you search with all your heart to search what the Bible says is unable to know the unknowable to contain the uncontainable and be filled up to the fullness of Him who is beyond fullness.
