Your Calling, Your Mantle, and How to Fulfill It | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
Your Calling, Your Mantle, and How to Fulfill It
“America was founded on prayer. Therefore, the removal of prayer from its public life was a central part of its fall from God. A nation that turns away from prayer will ultimately find itself in desperate need of it.”
Elijah through his mantle over Elijah, messiah is throwing his mantle over you.
And may maybe, you know, you never received it. You never got it. It’s okay. Get it today.
Now we’re gonna look at a great, glorious thing has to do with your life.
It has to do with your calling.
But I also wanna, at the beginning, talk about the difference between the ways of god and the ways of the world, that’s something very important.
You’ve heard it said In the world, in this spirit of the age right now, we can do whatever we want with our life, with our being, with our with our bodies, whoever we wanna be, whatever we wanna do with our body, with ourselves.
That’s freedom. We can choose our own pronouns. We could be a man. Could be a woman.
A woman could be a man.
I would assume by that logic, it means that we could be squirrels if we felt it or a duck bill platypus, if that’s my authentic self, it’s lunacy.
It is lunacy. Those who are born men are now destroying women’s sports.
And the media is cheering how how how it’s madness. What do you say, though?
But it’s all part of the same spirit. I can do my own thing.
There’s no well, when you when someone says that, and you say, no. This is not right.
They say you’re intolerant. You’re a big hit. You know, think about it.
Let’s say I have a desktop computer And let’s say it’s too limiting.
I don’t wanna just use it as a computer. I wanna use it as a football.
And so I we come to the field and we play instead of football with a computer.
We go and we kick that thing. What’s gonna happen to that computer?
It’s gonna be destroyed because it wasn’t made for that.
You’re using something against the purpose for which it was made.
The truth is when they say I can do whatever I want, I can do this.
What they’re saying is There’s no purpose for my life, so I can do whatever I want because there’s no purpose.
There’s nothing for it. You understand? That’s what it’s saying. It’s saying they say you can do everything.
They it’s saying there’s no purpose to your life.
Because if you can do whatever you want, use it for any purpose. It means there’s no purpose.
It’s whatever you want it to be.
It’s no accident that the more people get into that thinking or those actions, they have the highest rates of suicide, self destruction.
To take away purpose. If you can do whatever you want with manhood, womanhood, marriage, family, Then you’re saying that there is no purpose.
There is no purpose to manhood, womanhood, family marriage.
You can do whatever you want because there’s no to it, doesn’t have anything.
And so what that does is it destroys purpose.
And so it goes even further. Think about it.
If, you know, a man has a purpose as a man, a woman has a purpose as a woman, family has a purpose as that merit Well, that also means it’s not just women or men.
It is you’re a woman. You’re a man. You have a specific being. You have a specific nature, specific past.
So not only is there a general purpose, there’s a specific holy purpose for your life.
It’s not just general. There is a general purpose. Yes.
But there’s a specific calling and purpose to your life because of who you are. You have a purpose.
You have a purpose that no one else can do, but you goes.
So there’s the concept, therefore, of a calling. Of a destiny of of a a mantle.
You know, think about it. The the greater the purpose of people involved.
Let’s say you’re the high priest. Let me go even below that.
You’re if you’re if you’re of Israel, god called Israel back then. He still called them. Call them.
And so they had a purpose, so they couldn’t just do whatever they wanted to do.
They couldn’t do what the nations were doing. They’re doing all sorts of crazy things.
They couldn’t do it because they had a purpose. They’re called by god.
And so if you are in Israel and you you’re you’re now you’re called to be a a levite.
You’re a levite. You’re born a Levi, and you have a calling.
Now you can’t do what everybody else in Israel can do because you have a higher purpose or higher calling.
Now if you’re a Levi and you’re a priest, you can’t do what all the levites do.
You already have even a higher one, so I can’t do that because I have a purpose.
And if I’m the high priest, I can’t do what any of them do.
Other things I can’t do at all.
I have it can only do what because god has given me a high calling.
It’s just like anything in your house.
If there’s something that’s not really worth much, you can use it for anything you want. You gotta rag.
Use it for what you want. But you have China You’re not gonna use it for anything.
You’re only gonna use it at special purposes. So think about that.
So the very thing the world says, it’s freedom to do whatever you want. No.
It’s actually bondage and it’s destroying yourself. It’s taken away your purpose. And the other way to say, no.
I can’t do that. I won’t let that because I’m because I’m called to do that.
That’s actually giving your life meaning.
And so god called you So there is a destiny to your life.
There is a calling to your life. There is a mantle over your life.
The cloak of the prophet, the mantle, the cloak Tunaronomy 39 verse 34 verse 9.
Now Joshua’s son of nun was filled with a spirit of wisdom. Because Moses had laid his hands on him.
Interesting. Joshua had a calling.
Joshua had a purpose was born for it, but he could only fulfill it when the anointing came upon him.
Very this, you know, what do you notice about this? This is Moses. What do you notice?
Apparently, Moses is very Pentecostal. I mean, it pound he laid hands and the spirit was on him.
Acts 196, Paul laid his hands upon them, and the Holy Spirit came upon them.
Joshua was anointed by the spirit to take up where Moses would leave off to come into his calling, he needed the anointing.
Now god called the king Saul because the people wanted the kings.
They called Saul He called Saul to be king. He called Samuel to anoint him, but Saul went off.
Saul went away from his calling, away from his anointing.
And so finally, god says I’m re I’m grieved. I’m rejecting him.
And and and Samuel is grieved god says, no. No. No. No. No. No. I have another.
So he sent him first time in 2016.
He sent him and and had him brought him Oh, actually, he goes to Bethlehem.
He says, go to Bethlehem to the sons of Jesse has the 1. Look at them. This wasn’t the 1.
The next one, 7 sons, next one. No. Have you any other son?
So he sent and had him brought in David David, the shepherd boy, little youngest one probably looked down upon out in the fields with a sheep.
He was ruddy red with a fine appearance, handsome features.
The lord said, to Samuel, rise, and anoint him, he is the 1.
So Samuel took the horn of oil, anointed David in the presence of his brothers, And from that day on, the the spirit of the lord came upon David.
In power, David, youngest tending sheep.
God says to Samuel, don’t look at the outward form God, I don’t look at that.
I look at the heart. This is the one I’m called, anoint him.
For now, why does he have to anoint him?
I mean, god could just there’s something about this We need the anointing, and that oil symbolizes the Holy Spirit.
So he gets the oil and he gets the spirit.
And his lie and when he does, at the same time, it says the spirit left soul.
Left soul. But it the mantle comes upon David of the king.
Here he is, the shepherd boy, not gonna be manifested for a long time, but he has the mantle of the king.
Now similar thing. Elijah, powerful, mighty. Elijah has this great victory, but then he gets depressed.
You know, he’s emotional. And he says, that’s it, lord. I’m finished. I can’t do it anymore. God says, okay.
Let me speak to you. First of all, you’re not finished. Secondly, not yet.
But I want you to anoint someone else, Elijah, to be a prophet in your place.
So 1st King 19, Elijah, is in the fields, you know, you, uh, pro undoubtedly a youth in the field working the fields, Elijah sees him, knows by god, it’s him, goes up to him, throws over his takes his mantle, his cloak throws it on him.
And so all of a sudden, this cloak comes upon him while he’s to inform work all of a sudden, and he knows now that’s Elijah.
That’s the famous mighty Elijah. And are he just through his mantle on me?
And he knows now his life is gonna change now. Hi.
