Passover is the first and central celebration of the Jewish faith. It’s when they remember they were once slaves in Egypt. God saved them by sending a Redeemer, and by the blood of the Lamb. It’s no accident that Jesus, the Messiah, is called the LAMB of God and He died on Passover. Every time you have the Lord’s Supper, you’re eating the bread and drinking the wine of Passover. He arose during Passover week, for Passover was the celebration of new beginnings and new life. There’s no other Messiah but Jesus; only He could do all this. We believers have a truly Jewish faith – a Passover Faith. Remember once you were a slave far from God, but God in His mercy sent you His Redeemer. By the Blood of the Lamb, He broke your chains, and set you free. He set you on a journey home to a land flowing with milk and honey, the Promised Land. Keep your eyes on the Lamb, and celebrate your salvation. You are a spiritual child of Israel and you’re saved in a Passover faith.
Yes.
Let’s address the idea that your mind is just your mind. It is what it is.
You can’t really control it. Thoughts pop up. They come and go.
Listen, you’ve got a hand, you have feet, your feet sometimes might be moving without like this foot right now is moving without her thinking about it.
You’re not thinking about it. You may be tapping your foot, you’re not thinking about it.
Your hand may be nervous doing some things right there, you know, doing things right there.
She’s not thinking about it, you know, now she is, but your, your hand and your feet can move by its because you’re not really thinking about it.
Well, that’s true. And so in the same way sometimes does your mind things pop up because it’s because you’re used to doing things.
It’s not because it’s totally out of control it. You’re used to and you’re not really thinking about it.
Your hand might, you know. So, so sometimes things pop up. Yeah.
You know, Friday night, I came here right from Jerusalem the night before and I was full of jet lag.
The security uh, guy greets me and I, I say good morning. But it’s night time.
I was not thinking it’s not what I wanted to say, but it just came out, it just came out because I was kind of running on this when I went home, I’m driving home.
My eyes start, start closing in the car. I’m so wiped out. I didn’t intend for it.
But it kept, it had a, it like it had a mind, it kept happening.
Finally, I pulled over on route 80. Then I took a nap. So I wouldn’t fall asleep.
I wouldn’t crash on the way home. Now, I don’t carry a wallet.
I carry a sandwich bag and I put my credit cards in a sandwich bag. It’s good.
It’s part of financial transparency. Saturday morning this Saturday, my wife Renata says to me, is there any reason that you put your credit cards in the refrigerator?
I was so jet lagged.
I put it in the refrigerator but I said yes to keep it fresh to keep it from spoiling.
Of course, I had no idea.
So because I was so tired so your hand and feet could move without you thinking about it.
But it’s really doing what it’s just you have already told it to do before. Do you have?
But does that mean you don’t have control over your hand or your feet?
No, you do have control so too, your mind can drift because of thoughts.
You’re not really kind of going on but does that mean you don’t have control over your thoughts?
No, you do. Everyone lift up your hand, open it, you open it, close it, do it again, close it, did anybody have a problem with that?
Did anyone’s hand refuse to open or close your hand doesn’t control you, you control your hand, your mind doesn’t control you.
You control your mind. You know, and you know, with the, you know, the, the alter thing, you’ve got the choice what to dwell on and what to not dwell on.
Now, I’m not saying it’s just easy.
And again, if you’re used to doing something, that’s where it kind of goes that way.
But then you still have control. What does the scripture say? Take every thought captive? What does that mean?
It means you have the power to take captive thoughts. There may be thoughts but take it captive. For God.
The mind is something you determine.
There may be thoughts that pop up, but you have the control, you have the power to take captive, take control of it, you have the power of your mind.
And now if I lift my arm up and down with weights on them, I’m gonna, it’s gonna, it, it, it may be hard to do that to lift up and down.
But if I keep doing it, it may be hard.
At first, my arm is gonna get stronger, my arm is gonna change.
So my, I will have my my, so my heart, my will actually change the nature of my arms.
So with your mind, you choose to what you, what you’re gonna dwell on where you’re gonna set it and keep choosing that.
You’re actually gonna change the nature of your mind. A stronger mind.
If you start exercising with a £50 weight or £100 weight, it’s gonna be hard.
Your arm is not that strong yet.
So with your mind, if your mind is not, not used to thinking thoughts of God or focusing or, you know, but it’s, it’s used to thoughts of anger or fear or selfishness or carnality or jealousy or whatever it is or what the bitterness, what they did to you, it’s gonna be challenging at first to turn it.
But you start the first one, the first time you’re saying no, I’m not gonna go with that.
It might, you know, you got inertia. So that thing may come up again.
You’re praying, it comes up because it’s used to it. But you do it the second time you say no.
And I’m doing that, it’s gonna be a little bit easier.
The third time more are finally soon, your whole mind is naturally gonna avoid those things and it’s gonna go in the direction of God.
But in the same way with anything else, you see when something is done over and over, it creates a pathway, it creates a flow, the more you dwell on these things after a while it becomes flowing.
If that’s even true, neurologically, the more you think about something it strengthens that thing for good or bad you may remember, think about it.
How many things did you do in your childhood? I mean, you can’t remember most of the things you did.
You can’t remember most of the things you did in your day.
But there’s some things that you remember way back then you still remember them little things. Why?
Because you thought about that again, it happened, then you thought again about it and then again about it and it became the some of the few things you remember from way back there because you, every time you thought about it, it sealed it in your mind.
You understand, there’s so many things that happen, you can’t remember.
But a few things at the time you thought again and again about it.
So now it’s there same way with everything.
If you think less, the less you think of something, the more you weaken it, even neurologic, it it disappears or it gets less and less.
And so those things pop up less and less.
But if you keep dwelling on something that you, you know, I don’t wanna be, I don’t wanna be thinking about this thing.
Well, if you keep doing it, it’s gonna keep popping up.
And so you started, you might have started from a mind of bitterness and anxiety and fear.
But you can change that over time.
