This program is brought to you by the partners of Joyce Meyer Ministries. Remember, we don’t have to pursue things—when we seek God, He provides for us. As it says in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you.” Let’s keep Jesus first, placing Him above everything else in our lives.
Consider Colossians 1:17-18: “He is before all things, and in Him, all things hold together.” Jesus is the head of His church, and without Him, everything falls apart. In every respect, He deserves the foremost place in our lives.
Now, let’s think about what truly matters. Money, possessions, and achievements can be part of life, but they aren’t what we’ll be thinking about at the end. When we’re on our deathbeds, our focus won’t be on our bank balance or worldly success; we’ll be looking for peace, family, and the assurance that we’re about to meet Jesus. As Matthew 6:19 reminds us, “Do not store up treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.”
In Revelation 18, we read about the fall of Babylon, symbolizing the collapse of the world’s wealth and systems in a single hour. This reminder calls us to set our priorities right. Our money, possessions, and status could vanish in a moment, so let’s make sure we’re putting Jesus first.
It’s natural to strive for more, but sometimes, our pursuit of bigger homes, luxurious cars, or new possessions can lead us away from what truly matters—our faith, our family, and our peace. Let’s reexamine our priorities and remember that having more shouldn’t come at the expense of joy and balance. God calls us to live without unnecessary burdens, so if we’re constantly stressed by debt or lack time for loved ones, maybe it’s time to reassess.
We can get so wrapped up in these pursuits that we don’t realize how far we’ve drifted until it’s too late. Maybe you’re young and have busy days with little time for Jesus. Taking even a few minutes each morning to seek Him can bring transformative peace and guidance.
