Jack Hibbs : LIFT Daily Prayer: Strengthened by His Word
Finding Strength in God’s Word Amid Life’s Deepest Sorrows
Good morning, friends. Today is Monday, November 3rd. As we begin this day together, I want to share a verse that has been on my heart—one that offers comfort and strength, especially in times of deep sorrow. Psalm 119:28 says, “My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.”
Have you ever felt that kind of exhaustion, where your heart is heavy and your spirit feels drained? Life can bring seasons of grief, pain, or loss that leave us breathless, much like the first time I got the wind knocked out of me playing football as a child. You can’t do anything but wait—until the air slowly fills your lungs again.
Sorrow can feel that way. It can swallow us whole. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a broken relationship, a health crisis, or the heavy burden of the struggles around us, we sometimes feel powerless to move forward. Yet the psalmist reminds us that in our deepest weariness, God offers the answer: His Word.
His Word is not just a comfort—it is strength. It sustains us when life seems unbearable, guides us when our hearts are broken, and fills us with hope when we feel alone. Jesus Christ understands our pain intimately. Even when we feel unable to breathe under the weight of sorrow, His Word lifts us, restores us, and strengthens our weary souls.
So, this morning, we pray together: Heavenly Father, pour out Your Word into the hearts of those who are struggling. Bring comfort to those facing illness, loss, heartbreak, or disappointment. Infuse hope where sorrow has taken root, and renew the strength of every weary soul. Let Your Word be the breath of life that restores and sustains us in these challenging days.
Lord, guide us with Your mercy and grace through the trials ahead. May goodness prevail in our lives and in our nation. We give ourselves fully into Your hands today and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Friends, lean on God’s Word. In it, you will find strength to breathe again, courage to face the day, and hope that carries you through.
