We’re Leaving Now – Part 2 (Hebrews 12:1-3)
We’re Leaving Now – Part 2 (Hebrews 12:1-3)
Hebrews 12:1-3
Tonight, we reflect on Hebrews, Chapter 12. In this passage, we are reminded of our shared journey as believers, surrounded by a “great cloud of witnesses.” In verse one, we’re urged to set aside every burden and sin that holds us back, running with determination the path set before us. We are to look to Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who, for the joy awaiting Him, endured the cross and its shame. He now sits in honor at the right hand of God. As we consider Christ, who faced such opposition from sinners, we are encouraged to remain steadfast, so we do not grow weary or lose heart.
Prayer of Petition and Renewal
We come together in prayer tonight, asking that God’s Word moves powerfully among us. We pray that Jesus would be exalted, our lives transformed, and our faith strengthened. As we leave, may we know Christ a little more deeply, understand our eternal purpose, and be renewed in spirit. We pray for those joining online and all who share in this message, asking God to bring healing to our nation and a revival to His Church. We offer this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Reflecting on Our Eternal Journey
Tonight, we continue exploring the message in Hebrews 12, focusing on our shared hope of heaven. Last week, we discussed our longing to “leave” this world, looking forward to eternal life with Christ. In the present, as followers of Christ, we must persevere in unity and purpose, looking to the Word of God as our foundation and the Holy Spirit as our guide. We may be in different places around the world, but through the Word, we are united as one.
While clubs and groups offer a sense of camaraderie, they cannot match the deep, spiritual bond shared by believers. The Spirit unites us, transcending blood relations and physical distance, binding us in a fellowship that is “thicker than blood.” Hebrews 12:1 tells us that we are joined together in Christ’s Spirit, a bond that is lasting and eternal.
Living for God’s Glory
Looking ahead, we are inspired by the glory to come. We endure life’s challenges and seek to share God’s love and truth with the world. When our time here ends, we will enter into eternal glory, free from every earthly struggle. The anticipation of this glory strengthens us to live with purpose, share the gospel, and demonstrate God’s grace in all we do.
Through these reflections on Hebrews, let us renew our commitment to live as witnesses of Christ’s love and unity.

Please pray for my daughter Brooke and myself, after 44 yrs, to have a relationship. I love her with my whole heart but apparently I “failed” motherhood.
