Jack Hibbs : The Coming Demonic Invasion
The demons are back. They told us, “We called the church because every morning we wake up and all the photos in our home are face-down—except the pictures of her and the baby.” From what we’d heard, it sounded like something genuinely paranormal might be happening.
At around 00:17, the pastor and I went into the baby’s room. We started praying and asked God to reveal what was really going on. Then the crib began to shake. And suddenly, we were struck by a wall of icy air—shockingly cold. The pastor said, “We need to check the attic. We’re right above the baby’s room.”
Do you know what was directly above the nursery? A large black plastic trash bag.
At around 00:41, we asked, “What is this?”
Today, we’re going to talk about what looks like the undeniable return of the “gods” in the modern world. By “gods,” I don’t mean the one true God—I mean “gods” with a lowercase g: the spiritual forces tied to demonism and the demonic realm.
For much of the Western world, the spread of Christianity brought peace, stability, and moral clarity. Wherever the gospel advanced, it acted like a hammer against the deceptive powers of darkness—forces that Jesus and Scripture warned us about. The light of God, the authority of His Word, and the power of the Holy Spirit within believers drives back spiritual darkness.
But when that light fades, darkness doesn’t stay dormant. As Christianity’s influence diminishes—across the West, in America, and especially in parts of Europe—demonic activity rises.
Around 01:49, let me say this clearly: don’t process this as entertainment or sensationalism. Some of what I’ll share may sound dramatic, but I’m committed to grounding it in truth. The “return of the gods” isn’t a metaphor—it’s a reality. The ancient spiritual powers once associated with Babylonian paganism are resurfacing, and the evidence, to many, feels overwhelming.
Around 02:32, it appears that over the past several centuries—possibly even within the last fifty years—something has been building, especially in parts of Eastern Europe. The Reformation once ignited a wave of spiritual light that spread across Europe. But as that light advanced, it faced immediate resistance. Friends, it’s time to put on your spiritual armor.
At around 02:59, consider the places once strongly shaped by the gospel—Vienna, Edinburgh, England, and other Reformation-influenced regions. In many of these areas, after spiritual illumination came spiritual decline, and darkness followed. According to this view, those shifts are not just cultural—they are spiritual, and they show up through increased spiritual activity.
At around 03:25, that’s why I keep returning to this message: the demons are back. These aren’t “new” demons or modern inventions. They are the same ancient forces—the old gods of the pagan world—returning because Christian influence has weakened dramatically.
Around 03:53, there are still pockets of spiritual light, but the public witness of the Church has been diluted. Meanwhile, evil expands. Deceptive teachings and “doctrines of demons” move forward, and many people are experiencing stronger levels of spiritual deception—especially where the gospel is not preached with power. In those environments, dramatic manifestations are reported more often: oppression, possession, and other disturbing encounters.
At around 04:27, it’s also worth noting that intense demonic manifestations have historically appeared even in moments of great spiritual light. Consider Jesus’ earthly ministry—there has never been greater light than His presence. Yet what happened when Jesus entered a town? Demons reacted violently. People under demonic influence would erupt, because the kingdom of darkness recognized the authority of Christ.
At around 04:58, I want to begin by reading something, but keep this in mind as you listen: we may be living in the era of the return of the gods. The demons are back.
Around 05:26, someone recently commented on our podcast episode where we did a three-hour reading of the Book of Revelation. They asked an important question: when I mentioned that the “image of the beast” could possibly be animated or influenced by a demonic spirit, is there any biblical evidence that a lifeless, inanimate object can be possessed by a spirit?
Let’s let the Bible answer that question. And yes—I did mention this during our reading of Revelation as well.
