Jack Hibbs : LIFT Daily Prayer: Wash Me and Cleanse Me
Cleansed and Made New: A Prayer for Forgiveness and Renewal
Good morning, friends. Today is Tuesday, October 28th, and here we are—day 302 of this journey. It’s incredible how far we’ve come. This morning, I want to share a prayer with you, one that touches the deepest parts of our hearts, and prepares us for God’s work in our lives.
Psalm 51 is one of the most powerful prayers in the Bible. David wrote it after facing the full weight of his sins—adultery, betrayal, and even murder. On the outside, he had everything: power, wealth, beauty, and influence. But inside, he was broken, defeated, and consumed by guilt. Psalm 51:2-3 captures his cry to God:
“Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin, for I acknowledge my transgressions; my sin is always before me.”
David’s honesty is striking. He didn’t try to hide his wrongdoing or blame others. He acknowledged it fully before God. And this is where the hope lies: no matter how extreme or hidden our sins may seem, God can forgive and restore us. Even a “small” sin costs God His blood.
Notice how David’s prayer starts with acknowledgment. He doesn’t run from the truth. He faces it. That’s the key to freedom: repentance. Confess your sins privately, openly, and honestly before God. No one else can cleanse your soul—only He can. And when we do, God promises to wash us thoroughly and make us new.
If you feel convicted today, don’t ignore it. That conviction is God’s loving hand guiding you back to Him. He desires to heal your soul, not condemn it. David’s story reminds us: if God forgave him after such grievous sins, He can forgive you too. But the door opens only when we step through with repentance.
God’s forgiveness is complete. He removes our sins as far as the east is from the west. He offers us a chance to rise again, to walk the path of holiness, and to live in the freedom He provides. Don’t let past mistakes derail you any longer. Turn to Him, receive His cleansing, and move forward with courage and faith.
Let us pray:
Father, we come before You, acknowledging our sins and seeking Your cleansing. Wash us, Lord, from all iniquity and heal our souls. Help us to embrace Your forgiveness fully, to leave our past behind, and to walk in Your light. Thank You for Your endless mercy and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Remember, God’s love is greater than any mistake we’ve made. Be encouraged—He has made you clean, forgiven, and ready to step forward into a renewed life.
