The Power of Solitude: Meeting God in the Quiet Places of Your Heart

Good morning, friends. On this first day of November, as the world awakens, let’s quiet our hearts before God. Today’s verse comes from Matthew

There’s something profoundly sacred about those words—He was there alone. Jesus, the Son of God, made time to be by Himself with His Father. In that solitude, heaven touched earth.

We live in a world that resists silence. Noise follows us everywhere—through our phones, our schedules, even our thoughts. But God still whispers in the quiet. He calls us, as He did His Son, to climb our own “mountain,” to step away from the crowd and draw near to Him.

You don’t need a perfect setting. Maybe it’s thirty minutes early in the morning before anyone else is awake. Maybe it’s in your car, your garden, or even the bathroom with the lights off—somewhere you can breathe and listen. God isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for your heart.

For some of us, being still feels almost impossible. The mind races, the body fidgets, and distractions shout for attention. But if we persist—if we push through that restlessness—there’s a peace waiting on the other side. The first few moments may feel endless, but stay there. Sit in the silence until your soul begins to settle. That’s when the whisper comes.

When Jesus spent the night alone in prayer, it was often before great decisions or moments of divine purpose. His solitude wasn’t isolation—it was preparation. The Father strengthened Him there, filled Him with direction and power. The same is true for us. In those moments alone with God, He molds our hearts, clarifies our purpose, and restores our strength.

And yet, solitude with God isn’t about asking for things. It’s about being with Him—no words, no agenda—just love and stillness. Sometimes God doesn’t give the answers we want. Instead, He removes the question. In His presence, confusion fades, and peace takes its place.

I can tell you from decades of walking with the Lord—those rare, sacred moments when His presence fills the room, when the noise fades and the heart rests—those moments are enough to last a lifetime. They’re glimpses of heaven itself.

So today, make time to be alone with God. Even if it’s only for half an hour. Turn off the world. Open your heart. Let Him draw you close. Because in that quiet place, you’ll find what your soul has been longing for—peace, strength, and the assurance that He is near.
