Thank you for joining us for another powerful message from Dr. Miles Monroe, brought to you by Monroe Global Incorporated and MonroeGlobal.com. We transform followers into leaders and leaders into agents of change. We hope this message blesses you as you advance your life and discover your purpose. Now, let’s dive into the message.

Today, I want to address an issue facing our community, and I want you to write down two words: Game and Chance. Write this down: Life is not a game. Life is serious, and it’s not something to play with. Do we all agree that life is a serious matter?

First, let’s establish this important principle: laws are never created to accommodate vices, but to stop them. Laws are not designed to accommodate bad behavior, but to prevent it. Vices usually exist before laws are put in place. For example, the Ten Commandments were given over 3,000 years after man had already sinned. This shows that laws are not necessarily created to prevent man from sinning, but to make him recognize what is wrong.

The purpose of law is to awaken our conscience. Without laws, there is no conscience. The Bible is clear that when the law arrived, sin became known. In other words, we don’t recognize wrong until right is defined. For example, why did God tell the children of Israel, “Thou shalt worship no other gods before me”? Because they were already doing it. Why did God command them not to make graven images or bow down to them? Because they were already doing it. Why did God say not to commit adultery? Because they were already doing it.

Laws are not meant to affirm or legitimize destructive behaviors. They are meant to stop the proliferation of harmful vices.

Let me give you an example. This past week in Colorado, voters legalized marijuana as a medicinal alternative. But after the vote, the state had to figure out how to regulate and manage it. They made a decision before fully studying its consequences.

Let me be clear: marijuana itself is not inherently bad. God created the plant, and everything God made is good. But there is such a thing as misuse—abuse. There’s a proper use for everything, including substances. The governor of Colorado, who voted against legalization, now faces the challenge of figuring out how to handle it.

My first point is this: laws are not created to accommodate a vice. They are created to stop it or to define it—whether it is right or wrong, good or bad, healthy or destructive. A law brings definition to behavior.

Second: consequences are more important than decisions. Write that down and remember it always. Never make a decision without considering the consequences, because decisions give birth to consequences. People often say, “Once you make a decision, you must live with it.” But that’s not true. You don’t live with the decision; you live with the consequences.

Before making any decision, you must exhaust all means to understand the potential consequences. Do your research, gather information, check alternatives, study historical data, and learn from those who have already made similar decisions. This is the responsible way to make an informed decision.

In my view, it’s irresponsible and even illegal to ask someone to make a decision without providing all the relevant information—especially about the consequences.

Once you fully understand the consequences and decide you can live with them, making the decision becomes easy.
