When Opposition Becomes Your Path to Purpose

Welcome to Kingdom Connection. If you’re walking through a season where it feels like everything is coming against you, you are not alone. Every one of us has stood in moments where darkness seemed louder than hope. And yet, just like Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Daniel, and David, God turns the very things that stand against us into tools for our good.

Jesus once told His disciples, “Go into the village over against you.” The only thing Scripture tells us about that place is this—it was against them. Sometimes God sends us into places that resist us, circumstances that push back, seasons that feel like one long battle. Not because the devil won, but because God intends to meet us there.

“Against” means resistance. It means pressure. It means a fight. And yet, God said, “Go there… I have something tied up for you in that very place.” In that unknown village, the disciples found a colt no one had ever ridden—prepared, reserved, and waiting for the moment Jesus would ride into Jerusalem to fulfill ancient prophecy. A blessing tied up in a place called against.

God still does that. He sends you into seasons that feel like fire, storms, or lions’ dens—not to break you but to free you. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego never saw the Fourth Man in the fire, but He was there. Sometimes you cannot see Him until you walk through the heat. The fire never touched them. It only burned the ropes that held them.

That’s what “against” does.
It burns your bondage.
It exposes hidden treasure.
It reveals who God is in ways comfort never can.

David said, “Everything is against me.”
But he also said, “But God is for me.

You must carry that in your spirit:
When everything is against you, God is still for you.

Romans 8:28 says that all things work together for good—not for our convenience, not for our comfort—but for God’s purpose in those who love Him. If He allowed you to walk into “against,” then He already tied something up for you inside it: a miracle, a lesson, a new level of faith, or a breakthrough you could not receive any other way.

Some of the greatest blessings God reserves for your life are attached to the hardest chapters you’ve walked through. The places that nearly destroyed you become the places that transform you. You don’t come out looking better—you come out looking more like Jesus.

We all live through seasons called “against.” But with Jesus, nothing you face is wasted. Even betrayal, like Judas’ kiss, became part of fulfilling prophecy. What looks like your enemy can become the doorway to your destiny when God is in it.

So if you’re standing in that village called “against,” take heart. Something is tied up for you there. Something new. Something meant only for you. And when God finishes His work, you will walk out refined, strengthened, and carrying a blessing that could only be found in the place that once opposed you.

Because when everything is against you—
God is for you.
And that changes everything.
