The Key Of Maximizing Your Time | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
In a world driven by urgency and distractions, Jonathan Cahn shares a powerful message about reclaiming your time by putting God first. While society constantly rushes and stresses over what to eat, drink, or accomplish, Jesus gave us a different path:
“Seek first the Kingdom of God, and all these things will be added to you.”
1. Don’t Let Urgency Control You
When you treat everything as urgent or life-or-death, you will be drained, anxious, and overwhelmed. But not everything is an emergency—and it’s certainly not Armageddon unless God says it is. Cahn humorously recalls standing on the hill of Megiddo in Israel (Armageddon) and reminding people: “It’s not the end of the world if you’re late… unless it actually is.”
Many of us live like Martha—busy, frantic, and stressed—when God calls us to be like Mary, who sat in the presence of Jesus with focus and peace.
2. Be Led—Not Dragged
You are not called to live a life dragged by chaos. God leads His people. He doesn’t drag them. The world will try to pull you in every direction, but when you are led by the Spirit, peace follows.
Block out time for what matters. The key to maximizing your time is not doing more—it’s doing what matters most.
3. Protect What’s Eternal Over What’s Urgent
God won’t call your phone when you skip your quiet time, worship, or time in His Word—but that doesn’t mean it’s not critical. These things don’t scream for your attention, but they are the most life-changing.
If you constantly let the “urgent” push out the “important,” you’ll soon find you have no time left for what truly matters.
4. Measure Everything by Your Calling
Not everything is worth your time. Ask yourself:
Is this leading me closer to my purpose—or pulling me away?
Is this helping me fulfill God’s calling on my life?
Start by reading God’s Word—His will for your life is already revealed in Scripture. Then listen for His unique calling to you. Once you know your purpose, align your choices accordingly.
5. Rest is Not Wasted Time—It’s Sacred
God created the Sabbath—not just as a law but as a life-giving principle. Taking time to rest in God’s presence doesn’t steal your time; it multiplies your peace and productivity.
Ironically, when you dedicate time to God, you often get more done with less stress.
6. Take Inventory and Redeem Your Days
Ask yourself daily:
How am I spending my time?
What parts of my schedule are filled with distractions or nonessentials?
How much of my day is aligned with God’s will?
Make a conscious decision to move your time and energy from what is unimportant, sinful, or draining—and into the realm of what is holy, life-giving, and aligned with your purpose.
7. Let Your Life Become a Living Praise
Build your life around God, not the other way around. Set your day, goals, and actions with this in mind:
Glorify God with your life.
Live with joy, gratitude, and worship.
Let your time become a testimony.
Don’t just react to life—appoint your days for the glory of God. No matter what opposition comes, declare: “I was born for Him. I will live for Him.”
Final Encouragement
Time is one of God’s greatest gifts. Use it wisely. Make the most of the life you’ve been given. Put God first—and everything else will fall into place.
