Sin Consciousness vs. Innocence Consciousness Pt. 2 – Sunday Service
One important realization I’ve had is that when people support broadcasts that aim to save souls, it gets recorded, and when you get to heaven, you’ll be told, “You saved millions of souls.” You might think, “Someone must have made a mistake, I only went soul-winning once,” but praise God for the opportunity to help others. Now, if you need an offering envelope, please raise your hand, and the ushers will be happy to provide one for you.
I want to share something from Psalm 96:7 that truly blessed me. I hope you see that giving should not be viewed as a duty or obligation but as an act of devotion and love. Under the New Covenant, everything should come from the heart.
Psalm 96:7 says, “Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength.” In verse 8, it continues, “Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name.” How do we do that? By bringing an offering and entering His courts. When we give offerings, God is glorified.
Isn’t it amazing? When we give to God, we give Him glory. And not only that, it becomes an act of worship. You’re taking something that you worked for or possess, and offering it to God in worship. Psalm 96:9 says, “O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness; fear before Him, all the earth.”
One thing I want us to recognize is that our giving is an essential part of our worship and service to the Lord. We come to church for music, teaching, and fellowship, but our giving—especially generous giving—is also a significant form of worship. It shouldn’t be pressured giving, nor should it be done because it’s an obligation of membership. Instead, it should be a heartfelt gift given out of devotion.
Remember, everything you have comes from God. The Bible says, “All things come of thee, O Lord, and of thine own have we given thee.” What you give to God already belongs to Him. When God gives us something, it’s as if He’s testing whether we’ll honor Him with it, not out of obligation, but out of a heart full of devotion and love.
Giving out of obligation, such as when you feel you must reciprocate a gift given to you, doesn’t come from the heart. But when you give with love, devotion, and a willing spirit, that’s when God can truly work wonders in your life. That’s when it’s right, and that’s when amazing things can happen.
Let’s take a moment to prepare our offerings. Father, we thank You for the opportunity to give generously from our hearts. We give You glory and worship You in the beauty of Your holiness. Receive this offering, Lord, and we thank You for accepting it in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Let’s go ahead and receive the offering this morning. When we truly understand the power of giving, it changes everything. The Bible reminds us, “In all thy getting, get understanding.”
Praise the Lord! We welcome you to the service today. In the South, whenever there’s a forecast of rain, people often fear a tornado will come as they drive to church! But I thank God for the technology that allows those of you at home to join us as well. Please make sure the kids are in another room so you can be fed by the Word of God this morning. There’s nothing like being here, in the presence of the Holy Spirit, and I believe God is going to change your life today.
If you have your Bibles, open with me to 1 Corinthians 15:34. Father, thank You for this precious opportunity to minister to Your people. We pray that revelation knowledge flows freely today, uninterrupted and unhindered by any distractions.
