Give Me This Mountain! (Full Sermon) | Special Screening | Joseph Prince
In today’s world, with all its noise, confusion, and uncertainty, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and small. Maybe you find yourself exhausted from chasing dreams that seem just out of reach, or perhaps you’re facing circumstances that feel like insurmountable mountains. But here’s the truth: God hasn’t called you just to get by. He’s called you to thrive, no matter what terrain you find yourself navigating. Let’s journey together into the biblical foundation of faith, inheritance, and the power of God’s promises to move every mountain in your life.
God’s Presence in Life’s Valleys
When life gets hard, it’s often in the stillness that God’s voice becomes most clear. In those quiet moments—between the battles, beneath the noise—His presence draws near. The Bible reminds us that He is closer than our very breath, and it’s His faithfulness that lifts us up, even when our faith feels depleted.
If you’ve been weary or anxious about the future, God wants to assure you of His love and care. He’s not just aware of your challenges—He’s right there with you. And in those times when your faith wavers, remember: God’s faith never does. His strength is the anchor that enables you to rise, face your mountains, and believe for breakthrough.
The Real Mountains We Face
When we think of “mountains,” it’s not always physical obstacles. Sometimes your mountain is a negative diagnosis, a broken relationship, financial strain, or fear of what tomorrow might hold. Many of us stand before these obstacles and wonder if we’re strong enough, wise enough, or faithful enough to overcome them. The good news is: it’s not about your strength. The Lord’s grace and blessing are upon you, and He wants to see you not just endure, but flourish.
The Power of Community and Encouragement
Encouragement isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Even the most outwardly optimistic people often need to hear a kind word. That’s why, in the family of God, prophecy and encouragement are so important; they build us up and draw us nearer to God’s heart.
Unlike the transactional nature of the world—where value is tied to what you can give or produce—God calls us to love one another for who we are. The church is designed to be a sanctuary, a place where genuine love and hope are found. When you gather with other believers, you’re stepping into an atmosphere where God’s glory and the presence of His Spirit can bring healing, comfort, and restoration.
The Family: An Oasis of Love
Your home is meant to be an oasis, a place where every member feels accepted, appreciated, and loved, no matter their flaws. Words of affirmation and gratitude can make all the difference. When a husband is reminded he’s valued, when a child knows they’re accepted, it can break down the hardest of emotional barriers. Don’t turn your home into another battleground or place of criticism; let it be a refuge of grace and peace.
The Spiritual Riches of God’s Word
Every time we open the Scriptures, God invites us deeper. Biblical wisdom isn’t just for scholars—it’s for every believer, at every stage of life. The greatest treasures aren’t just on the surface; they’re discovered as we press in, ask questions, and seek understanding. There are mysteries in God’s Word, revealed by His Spirit, that will strengthen your faith and equip you to possess your inheritance.
Grace vs. Old Covenant: The Heart of Sonship
Throughout Scripture, we see the contrast between law and grace, slavery and sonship. Under the law, people related to God as distant, fearful servants. But through Jesus, we are brought into a new covenant—a relationship as beloved sons and daughters. When you pray, approach God as your loving Father, not as a Judge eager to condemn. Jesus’ sacrifice secured not only your forgiveness but your place in the family of God.
This sonship brings an inheritance—every spiritual blessing in Christ. The more you embrace your identity as God’s child, the more you walk in this inheritance. Healing, wisdom, peace, and provision are all part of what Jesus purchased for you.
Possessing Your Promised Land
It’s easy to fall into the trap of fighting battles but never enjoying their rewards. The Israelites, after conquering their enemies, sometimes failed to actually dwell in and benefit from the land God gave them. In the same way, many believers fight for breakthroughs, only to neglect living in the fullness of God’s promises.
There’s a difference between winning a war and actually possessing your inheritance. God doesn’t want you to merely struggle for blessings—He wants you to lay hold of them, to enjoy and steward them. Whether it’s peace in your home, healing in your body, or victory over fear and addiction, these are all part of your spiritual heritage in Christ.
The Story of Caleb: A Model of Faith and Longevity
Biblical history gives us powerful templates for living a life of faith. One such example is Caleb. Despite being well into his eighties, Caleb declared with confidence, “Give me this mountain!” Why was Caleb still strong and full of hope when others in his generation faded? It’s because he treasured God’s promise in his heart and wholly followed the Lord, regardless of the challenges and obstacles he saw with his eyes.
Caleb’s secret was simple: he didn’t let the evil report of others determine his destiny. Instead, he meditated on what God said about him and his inheritance. Even at 85, he claimed what God had promised decades earlier. His life is a powerful picture of what happens when you keep God’s Word in your heart and walk by faith, not by sight.
