Faith in the Middle of the Attack
Faith in the Middle of the Attack
This program is brought to you by the generous support of partners and friends of PR Dollar Ministries. Up next on Changing Your World, we’ll explore the profound connection between faith and grace, especially during life’s challenges. Often, we hear people say, “Thank God for His grace,” but misunderstand it as a license for inaction. Grace doesn’t mean doing nothing; it’s about standing firm in the victory Jesus has secured for us. While standing, faith empowers us to overcome even in the face of adversity.

Faith and Grace: Growing Through Discomfort
Turn with me to Romans 5:2 as we dive into the relationship between faith and grace, especially during trials. Discomfort is something we all face—it’s an inevitable part of life. However, it serves a divine purpose: to mature us and shape us into the image of Christ. Growth doesn’t happen in the comfort zone. Trials and challenges are not signs of failure or punishment but are tools for spiritual growth. As Scripture reminds us, “All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution” (2 Timothy 3:12).
Being a Christian doesn’t exempt us from discomfort—it equips us to endure it. On this journey of faith, setbacks and hardships are opportunities for growth. Each trial teaches us something new, helping us mature spiritually. Looking back, you’ll realize those moments of struggle prepared you for greater things.
The question isn’t if discomfort is part of the Christian life; it’s how we navigate through it. Discomfort isn’t a place to settle but a process to pass through. We do this by relying on God’s grace and living by faith. Grace gives us strength, and faith keeps us grounded. Together, they empower us to grow through every trial.
The Fellowship of Suffering
Philippians 3:10 offers a profound insight: “I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings.” At first glance, this might seem like a call to suffer as Jesus did. But Paul isn’t suggesting that we endure Christ’s exact sufferings, which were unique and redemptive. Instead, the key lies in the word fellowship.
Fellowship implies a shared relationship, a mutual giving and receiving. In the context of suffering, Jesus’ part was to bear the ultimate sacrifice—enduring the cross, becoming the sin offering, and paying the ransom for humanity. Our part is to trust, learn, and grow through life’s trials, knowing that His sacrifice has already secured our victory.
By embracing faith and grace, we align ourselves with this fellowship. We’re not called to suffer as Christ did, but to trust Him as we face life’s challenges, knowing He is with us every step of the way. As we rely on His grace, we grow stronger, wiser, and closer to His image.
