John MacArthur Daily Devotional – October 14, 2026: Standing Steady in a Shaking World
If your heart feels a little unsteady today, you are not alone. Many believers across our nation are carrying quiet burdens—questions about the future, concerns about children, anxiety over finances or health. Yet in the middle of all this, God invites you to stand steady, not by trying harder in your own strength, but by anchoring your soul in His unchanging Word. As you read this devotional and pray through each section, imagine the Lord drawing near, speaking peace over your fears and reminding you that His hand has never left your life, not even for a moment.
Rooted in an Unshakable Promise
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV) This simple verse has carried countless Christians through seasons of deep uncertainty. Everything around us shifts—politics, health, jobs, relationships—but Jesus never changes. The same Savior who saved you years ago is the One holding you right now. His character does not evolve with culture, and His promises are not subject to market conditions. When you feel tossed by events you cannot control, fix your heart on this truth: Christ’s love, power, and faithfulness toward you are exactly as strong today as they have always been and will ever be.
Walking by Faith in Ordinary Moments
Spiritual growth rarely happens in big, dramatic moments. More often, it unfolds in the quiet decisions you make each day—choosing prayer over worry, Scripture over social media, honesty over compromise, forgiveness over resentment. Today, invite the Holy Spirit into your routine: your drive to work, your conversations, your errands, your planning. When anxiety whispers, answer with God’s Word. When discouragement knocks, remind your heart who your Savior is. Faith is not pretending everything feels easy; faith is trusting that God is good and present, even when nothing looks certain. Let today be another step forward, however small, in deeper dependence on Christ.
Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender
Father, in Jesus’ name, I come before You, confessing my need of You. Strengthen my faith where it feels thin and fragile. Expose the lies I have believed about myself, my future, and even about You. Replace them with Your truth. Help me to trust Your timing, Your wisdom, and Your ways. Grow in me a heart that delights in obedience, not just when I understand, but especially when I do not. Holy Spirit, lead me into a deeper love for Jesus, a clearer understanding of Your Word, and a bolder confidence in Your promises. Let my faith today rest not on my feelings, but on who You are.
Covering Our Homes with Peace
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You see every tension, every unspoken hurt, every fear we carry for those we love. Bring Your peace into our home. Heal strained relationships and soften hardened hearts. Restore communication where silence has taken over. Protect our children and grandchildren—guard their minds, their friendships, and their choices. For marriages, pour out forgiveness, humility, and renewed affection. Let our home be a place where Your presence is felt, where grace is spoken, and where Your Word is honored. Cover our loved ones with Your mercy, and draw each one closer to Jesus.
Health, Healing, and Inner Quiet
Gracious Healer, I place my body, mind, and emotions in Your hands. For every diagnosis, symptom, or lingering pain, I ask for Your touch. Guide doctors, nurses, and caregivers with insight and skill. Strengthen my immune system, renew my energy, and calm every racing thought. Where I feel exhausted, give me rest that goes deeper than sleep. Heal emotional wounds, anxiety, and depression. Remind me that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and empower me to make wise choices in rest, nutrition, and exercise. Above all, let Your peace guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus.
Trusting God with Work and Provision
Lord, I bring my work, career, and finances before You. You know the bills, the deadlines, the uncertainties, and the responsibilities I carry. Open doors that no one can shut, and close doors that are not from You. Give me diligence, integrity, and excellence in all I do. Grant creativity, clarity, and wisdom for decisions that affect my future and my family. Provide opportunities, promotions, and favor according
