Jentezen Franklin Daily Devotional – October 16, 2026: Holding On When You Feel Like Letting Go

If this day has met you with a heavy heart, you are not alone. God sees the unspoken worries, the late-night questions, and the quiet tears you wipe away before anyone notices. Maybe you’re trying to be strong for everyone else, but inside you’re tired, worn down, and wondering how much longer you can keep believing for a breakthrough. Today’s devotional is a gentle reminder from the Lord: do not let go of your hope. The same God who brought you this far has no intention of leaving you now. As you read and pray, invite the Holy Spirit to sit with you, speak to you, and breathe fresh courage into your soul.

Anchored by a Greater Hope

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:23 NKJV) This verse calls you to cling tightly to hope, not because your circumstances look promising, but because the One who promised is faithful. Your hope is not rooted in perfect outcomes, ideal timing, or your own strength—it is anchored in the unchanging character of God. He cannot lie, He does not forget, and He will not abandon His word concerning you. When fear whispers, “It’s over,” the Holy Spirit reminds you, “I am still working.” Holding fast doesn’t mean you never feel afraid; it means you return, again and again, to the truth that God’s faithfulness is greater than today’s uncertainty.

Living Hope in Everyday Struggles

Hope becomes powerful when it shows up in ordinary moments. It looks like choosing to believe God is with you in traffic, in meetings, at the kitchen sink, and in the hospital waiting room. Today, talk to God in real time: when anxiety rises at work, breathe a simple prayer, “Lord, I trust You with this moment.” When you feel frustrated at home, pause and ask, “Jesus, give me Your patience right now.” Open your Bible, even if it’s just a few verses, and let God’s voice be louder than the news or social media. Reach out to one person who needs encouragement and share a word of hope or a Scripture. Each small act of faith becomes a step away from fear and a step deeper into trust.

Drawing Near in Faith

Father, today I bring my faith to You, even where it feels fragile and worn. Strengthen what is weak inside of me. Where I have allowed doubt and disappointment to cloud my vision, wash me with Your truth. Teach me to trust Your timing and Your ways. Grow in me a deeper hunger for Your presence—help me love Your Word, value Your whispers, and recognize Your hand in my daily life. Remind me that my faith is not in my own ability to figure everything out, but in Your perfect wisdom and unfailing love. Today, I choose to believe that You are working all things together for my good and for Your glory, even when I cannot see the full picture.

Covering Our Homes in Peace

Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. Place Your hand upon our home and fill it with Your peace. Heal strained relationships, soften hard hearts, and teach us to forgive quickly and love deeply. Protect our marriages, strengthen parents, and guide our children and grandchildren. Let our homes be sanctuaries where Your presence is felt, where prayer is natural, and where grace is freely given. Break every cycle of anger, fear, confusion, and division. Replace it with unity, kindness, and understanding. May our conversations honor You, and may every room in our home reflect the peace of Christ.

Strength for Body, Mind, and Soul

Jesus, You are the Great Physician. I bring my health, and the health of those I love, before Your throne. Touch every sick body with Your healing power. Strengthen immune systems, restore energy, regulate what is out of balance, and bring relief to those in pain. Calm anxious minds, lift depression, and break the spirit of heaviness. Teach us to steward our bodies well—with rest, wise choices, and discipline. Let Your joy be our strength, and Your peace guard our hearts and minds. Where there is fear of diagnosis or uncertainty about the future, speak the assurance that nothing can separate us from Your love.
