What Does It Mean to Be Saved? – Daily Devotional

How Can We Pray For You? Have you signed up yet?

Here’s today’s in touch devotion.
Today’s scripture reading begins in verse one of First Peter chapter one, Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ to those who reside as strangers scattered throughout Pontus Galicia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Beth Tenia who are chosen according to the Foreknowledge of God, the father by the sanctifying work of the spirit to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with his blood, may grace and peace, be multiplied to you.
Blessed be the God and father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead to obtain that inheritance, which is imperishable, undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed.
In the last time, Christians often talk about salvation. But how many really understand what it requires?
Many think that being saved is our own responsibility, but it’s really the work of God.
He causes a person to be born again.
As we just heard in verse three of first Peter chapter one, our part is to respond to the gospel message in faith.
When his spirit opens our heart, to understand the path to redemption begins with the realization that it’s impossible to make ourselves righteous because we cannot correct our sinful nature to find favor with the Lord.
We must trust in the sacrifice our savior made on our behalf.
His crucifixion was a demonstration of God’s hatred for sin and immense love for mankind.
Jesus, the blameless one bore the penalty for sin.
So corrupt people like us could be made righteous through faith in Him.
Our good works and righteous acts can never earn God’s forgiveness and favor.
The only way we can be forgiven of our sins is through Jesus Christ and his sacrificial substitution, ery atoning death at Calvary.
No matter what you’ve done, you can be declared righteous if you’ll turn from your sins and trust the Lord Jesus Christ as your savior.
