The True And False New Year | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
The True And False New Year
One of the most important days God ever gave Israel – a holy day – and yet virtually everyone misses it. And yet it holds the key to the most unused power. Discover what it is.
Jonathan Cahn has been called the prophetic voice of his generation and is known for unlocking the deep mysteries and revelations of God’s Word. He leads Hope of the World, a worldwide ministry of outreach of God’s Word to all nations, and His love and compassion to the world’s most needy.
Now the problem here to say that Russia Shauna, which is the Jewish New Year’s, it’s really not the Jewish New Year’s because it says right here that it happens in the 7th A new year has to happen in the 1st month.
Now I just, as you know, got back from Israel, and I had a different message planned.
And I had it in my computer, But the and but I couldn’t find it.
That’s the first part. I it just just weird disappeared. And the last minute, I realized something else.
And I and I said, well, that’s probably why?
Because I had to change it anyway even if I had that because of realizing something which some of you know from the email, but I’m gonna go into it.
We’re gonna have something I’m gonna do something at the end as well after the after the message, but I changed it to this.
Now when you think of New Year’s, you think of parties and you think of a ball coming down and that song, old, uh, enzyme, which nobody understands, you know, what that even means.
But when you think of the Jewish new year, you most people think of Russia.
Russia means the head of the year.
And things associated with it, it comes during uh, sev in September, usually, it’s the feast of trumpets.
And Jewish people will say Lishanoptova. May your name be inscribed for the book in the book of life.
Uh, there are apples and honey, and then Rabbi say they believe that creation happened on Russia.
The problem is what we’re about to read. And it is a levitic levitic is 23 verse 23.
Again, the lord said to Moses say to the children of Israel, in 7th month on 1st the month, you shall have a rest a reminder by the blowing of Trump.
It’s a holy gathering. You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present offering by fire to the lord.
This is Russia? What what is called Russia? This is it’s the feast of trumpets.
But look what it says. It says in the 7th month, How can you have a new year celebration in the 7th month?
The problem there, it doesn’t work.
Now I’m gonna share we’re gonna share some things that are probably that undoubtedly most Christians have zero idea of, and and and you may have not an idea of of some of the things I’m gonna be sharing here.
Uh, but it’s about a particular day.
Now the problem here to say that Russia, which is the Jewish New Year’s, it’s really not the Jewish New Year’s.
Because it says right here that it happens in 7th month, a new year has to happen in the 1st month.
And, also, the theme of the autumn holidays is about uh, judgment and god’s majesty and kingdom, but judgment.
And and and well, that’s not exactly a New Year’s message.
You have Happy New Year, and now get ready for judgment.
You know, it says it says, you know, you gotta get ready. You repent.
You’re you’re you’re getting ready for fasting.
Yom Kapoor is coming when all these all the sins are judged or redeemed.
It’s a bit strange to have happy new year, and they go right into these 10 days of repentance.
Also, it is the end of the harvest. It’s the final harvest in Israel. That’s not exactly something about beginning.
It’s kind of about ending. It doesn’t really go together.
And it’s and and in fact, you know, the the greeting is even confused because the greeting is It says, Lishanato Vatic Teivu.
And it says may it says, may your name, happy New Year, may your name be inscribed either in the book of life or may your may your name be inscribed for a New Year?
It’s it’s it’s it’s coming it’s joining together the idea of New Year’s And the day of judgment when it’s saying may you be in the book of life, it doesn’t go together.
It’s something that came up afterwards. It’s showing confusion. Oh, one of the Jewish people have been confused.
Because the New Year’s is not New Year’s.
So the rabbis tried to accommodate for the error, and they said, well, there’s different New Year’s uh, in September, it’s the it’s the Civil New Year.
Uh, then there’s the in winter, the New Year of trees, and it’ll in the summer, the new year of cattle, and and then the new year of kings.
But the word Russia actually does appear in the Bible, and I’m gonna tell you where it appears in the Hebrew.
You don’t return to it unless you want to.
Ezekiel 40, it says in the in in the in the 25th year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in 10th of the month.
The and okay. He says Zekiel says in the beginning of the year, what he says in Hebrew is Russia Shauna.
It’s the only place where that appears. Russia, that means the new year.
But the the pros of you will say, oh, look.
It it’s there, but but it doesn’t say it’s in September.
He’s undoubtedly speaking of the the true Jewish New Year, which is not in September.
Um, and he’s a priest Ezekiel’s a prophet and a priest, just like Jeremiah. They were priests and prophets.
And so he’s undoubtedly going by the priestly calendar, and it’s very clear when that is, which I’m gonna go into in a moment.
Now I’m gonna give you the names of the biblical months before we get into this as we talk about this day.
And I want you to try it when I say it. So the first one I’m giving you is Tishree.
That happens around September. Then the next one, Maheshvaan October. Around. Kislev.
That’s around November, December. Tebit. December, January. Shabbat January, February, Adar. That’s around February, March.
Adar too. That’s a that’s a leap month. Nissan.
Around April, ER, around May, Siobhan, around June, Tomos, around July, of around August and.
That’s around August September.
Now originally, the Bible would speak of the months of Israel mostly by numbers the 1st month or 2nd month 3rd month.
A few times the Bible uses the Hebrew names.
Like, for instance, the the month called Nissan is also called Aviv in Hebrew.
Means, uh, and then the month called well, there’s and then there’s a month called ER, which is also called Ziv.
After the Babylonian captivity, when the Jewish people were taking a Babylon, They would often refer to the months by the Babylonian, uh, system.
So you don’t have to repeat now, but I’m just Tishree. Okay. That’s Hebrew. Babylonian Tashritu sounds similar.
Kislev is kislimu in Babylon. Tavet, Tibet to in Babylon, Shabbat, Shabbatou. So Nissan, Nissan, new.
So they’re very similar. Now there’s gonna be a test on this after the service.
So when is the true new year? The birth of the year?
You gotta look at the beginning of the year.
Well well, you know, the autumn is really not a time of beginning.
Unless you’re going to school, it’s really a time of ending of nature. It’s when everything starts dying in nature.
So the beginning is is of of nature coming back is springtime.
And so Leviticus 23 for now, it says these are the appointed times of the lord.
Holy convocations which you shall proclaim at the times appointed for them in the 1st month.
It says then it says it talks about Passover. Passover is in the 1st month.
So that means the beginning of the year has to be the springtime.
In Exodus 12, god says to Moses and Aaron, he said this month, shall be the beginning of months for you.
It is to be the 1st month of the year for you. There it is. It’s what month?
It’s the month of Nissan. Nissan literally means the beginning. So god makes it pretty clear.
God is saying that the new there’s only 1 month that is the new year, and that is Nissan in the spring time.
And so where so Nissan here actually, it says it says you shall keep this month.
And deuteronomy 16, x is 13.
It says you shall keep it says you’ll the children of Israel came out during this month, also called Aviv.
It says you shall keep it. Observe it.
The the Hebrew word, you shall guard it, you shall protect it, you shall watch for it.
Well, that is what Ezekiel is talking about when he says, this is Russia Shauna.
The head of the earth, not the Russia, we know, but springtime. Hi.
