I’m Joyce Meyer.
I’ve seen god’s power transform my own life, and he will do it for you.
How many of you have a tendency to reason yourself right out of doing?
Well, we gotta be careful about that.
There’s a lot of areas that reasoning goes off into.
But confusion is caused by reasoning.
When you have a problem and you need an answer, You gotta have that answer from god, but if your mind is all full of turmoil and reasoning, It’s gonna be difficult for you to hear god speak to you.
You have to keep your mind and your spirit quiet so he can discern what god is saying to you.
And god speaks to us in many different ways. He whispers, still small voice.
A lot of times, I just call it a knowing.
You know, it was like when I was in the closet, god didn’t say, give Ruth Anne that red dress.
It was just like, I looked at it and I knew. We know, don’t we?
It’s like, you know, you know what I’d want you to do.
And I tell you what’s really hard when god tells you to give something that you really like to somebody that you really don’t like.
Now that is a challenge.
And then I have to watch them wear it.
And you know, I was telling Penny tonight, I went through so much of that stuff when I was a much younger Christian and god was teaching me the things that I’m teaching you now.
And That doesn’t happen to me as much now.
Once in a while, god will ask me to give away my favorite this or that, but god uses things like that to train us in obedience.
And sometimes there’s just a little something You know, I didn’t know anything about this giving.
I didn’t know anything about how important that was.
Now Dave and I thank god have always been tithers because he was taught that growing up and the church that we went to taught tithing.
And so We’ve always been Tithers, and I’m I’m glad that we were, but we wouldn’t go to go beyond that.
Well, see, a lot of people now say, well, tithing is not part of the new covenant.
It’s not it’s not part of the new testament. And I won’t argue with the with you about it.
But I’ll just simply say this. Jesus said to be generous.
And if you if you wanna talk about giving, you start studying the word generous and see what that is.
You’re way past tithing. When you get generous.
And I feel like if they could give 10% under the law, what should we be doing by grace?
So you don’t need to be coming to me and telling me it’s not new testament.
I, you know, Probably not. We need to go way beyond.
It we don’t live under the law anymore. We live by grace.
And when you know how much god loves you, do you know how many people So you people have to feel love.
They can’t just hear it because a lot of people are like, I was, everybody who ever told them that they loved them hurt them and took advantage of them.
That’s why when we go to, like, these developing countries, we go to India or Africa or places like that.
I mean, what goods are gonna do to tell a starving person god loves you?
But if you keep feeding them every day for about a year, and then you tell them god loves them, And it’s because of Jesus that I’m here doing this for you.
Because, see, when you do things for people that there’s no reason at all for you to do it, Then they start getting curious.
Why do you think the Bible says if your enemies hungry feed him if he starts to give him something to drink.
In the old testament, it says that’ll be like putting burning coals on his head.
Well, we think that that’s like, wow, he’s gonna get his now, but that’s not what that means.
Those hot coals are talking about love.
That that love that you show them that they know they don’t deserve is what breaks the hardness off of their heart and we’ll change them.
So we wanna use our stuff because you know what? You’re not an owner of anything.
We don’t own anything. Nothing is mine.
Yeah. I have a tendency to say my ministry. Well, it’s not my ministry.
It’s god’s ministry, and he’s giving me the privilege of having this part in it.
They want a privilege it is to speak to as many people as I speak to every day over TV like my god.
Why did you call me to do this? I don’t deserve this.
And not one of us deserves anything that god does for us, but we have to keep that in mind And remember that we’re here for a purpose, and our purpose really is to work with god to expand the kingdom of god.
And it can’t just be by preaching because people have heard preaching, preaching, preaching, preaching, and 50 different flavors of it.
But they can’t argue with love.
When you start loving people, I mean, really loving them.
And, you know, love is gonna cost you something.
It’s gonna cost you some time, some money, some pride.
It’s gonna cost you something.
When god first started teaching me this, I was I felt like god wanted me to give somebody $10 Well, I didn’t wanna give them $10.
I had tived. That was enough.
And, uh, so I now god, if you really want me to do it, I mean, if if it’s really you come on.
We want for confirmations to give away $10.
If you really want me to do it, god, I will.
And then This thought came to me.
Well, even if it’s really not me, I won’t get mad at you if you bless somebody with $10.
See, we don’t have to have from god.
The prophecy and an angel appear to us to be generous. It just becomes a lifestyle.
That’s just what you do. Because it makes you happy and because god is generous. Amen?
So we have to stop reasoning out everything and having to have all these confirmations and just decide to live like Jesus Luked.
Amen? Proverbs 1821. The power of life and death is in the tone.
And those who indulge it shall eat the fruit of it, rather for life or death.
You’ve heard the phrase you’re gonna eat those words. Well, that comes right out of the Bible.
And it’s true.
What we what we think and what we speak is what we feed on.
So it stands to reason if we’re negative and complaining and gossiping and criticizing and judging and all that kind of stuff that we’re not gonna be happy.
But I know none of you do none of that. Right?
You know, I got the wrong crowd here tonight. You don’t need any of this.
Uh you’re probably sitting there thinking, boy, I wish so and so would it come tonight.
Who who has thought that since you’ve been here today?
I see. Look at that. Well, guess what? You’re here.
Jobe 625 says how forcible are right words?
Well, if right words are forcible, wrong words are forcible too.
Some 1914, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight.
Oh god. Let what I say and what I think be pleasing and acceptable to you.
See, god has given us an ability.
Do you know that you can change somebody’s day by what you say?
I mean, I have this happen all the time, and I’m sure that anybody that teaches the word has this happened, but, I mean, I’ll have people tell me on your program the other day, you said blah blah blah, and it changed my life.
Well, how can one sentence change somebody’s life?
Well, sometimes one word from god I mean, just one word from god can completely turn your life upside down and around.
Can you imagine what would happen if just everybody in this room would call your mind and your mouth into god’s service.
I’m issuing a call tonight.
It’s time for your mouth to get saved.
God told me that one time, so I’m telling you.
See, you can be saved and yet your mouth’s not be saved.
Or your mind not be saved.
And we need to realize how important These things are this is an important message that I’m bringing you tonight, and I don’t care how many times you’ve heard somebody teach on the mind in the mouth we need it over and over and over and over again.
I need it. If you don’t need this tonight, I’ll listen to myself.
Because I need it. Just studying for this reminds me. We we get reminded.
How easy is it? Oh, did did you hear what?
Oh, we just wanna hear what everybody has to say about everybody.
Well, we need to get beyond that.
Somebody called me a couple of years ago and started telling me this story about another minister that I know, and I said, I don’t believe that.
I do not believe it. I know her, and I don’t believe it.
Oh, well, a very credible person told me. I don’t care who told you.
I don’t believe it, and I’m gonna call her and ask her.
So I got right off the phone, and I called her.
And I said, this is what I heard. Did you do that? Well, of course, she didn’t.
And so I called the other person back.
And I said, I called her and that is not true and you need to call whoever told you.
See, that’s the way it goes.
So and so told me, and I told so and so and so and so and so and so and so and so and so and so and so and so and so And all of a sudden, somebody’s reputation is ruined, and it wasn’t even true.
You cannot believe everything you see on Facebook.
Joyce today is a conversation that I can almost see some of the people in my mind who really are gonna be sitting on the edge of their seat.
You know, you think of people who are praying for a loved one to come to Christ, people who, uh, maybe parents who are praying for a sick child or a family that needs a financial breakthrough, all of these things that they really just need a miracle.
So in our conversation today, our our miracles, a thing in the past, do they still happen?
Give us a little bit of hope to let’s just talk about the realities of miracles.
Well, when I first heard that this was gonna be the subject for the day, the first thing I thought about was, okay, how many how many healing miracles have I?
Seen in my life.
And I think that when we talk about miracles, that’s usually what people think of.
They think of healing. Mhmm. Do I know anybody that’s been healed? Yeah.
And, yes, I do know some people that have been miraculously healed, I know many others who have been healed, but not miraculously, it’s happened over a period of time.
And I know people that have prayed and what they asked for didn’t happen.
And people who have even died when they were praying to get well and live.
And so we don’t always understand why god does things the way that he does them.
And so the best thing to do is to trust god for what you want But then trust god even if you don’t get it.
The big thing is to trust god. It’s not me getting what I want. It’s trust in god.
But when I thought about it, I thought, do we see any miracles? Well, yes.
If we look we are surrounded by miracles all the time.
I looked up just a few fun facts to just talk about the greatness of god.
And if you if you really wanna see some of the stuff that god does.
You should read the last two chapters in Job when Job was questioning god.
And so god took Job on and explain some of the things that he does.
Like, where do you think I keep the stars?
And how does a few grams of sand stop the ocean waves? Yeah.
I mean, our bodies, just what it takes for a human body to function for one day is miraculous in itself.
Listen to this. Your blood circulates to your body three times each minute.
Your blood travels 12,000 miles each day inside your body. Wow.
Your heart beats 35,000,000 times each year. You have 60,000 blood vessels.
Inside your body. Nerv impulse has traveled to the brain at a speed of 250 miles an hour.
A person uses 17 muscles when they smile in 43 when they frown.
I guess god wants us to smile more.
I guess so.
The average adult takes over 20,000 breaths a day. So just think about that.
If just your breath was taken away, you couldn’t survive anymore.
And then I was doing a teaching one time on living a maze because I think if we really You know, when I woke up this morning, I got my coffee and I went and sat in my chair, and the the first thing I started to think about is just how blessed we are to have a home to live in and food to eat and clean water in our house and you know, I really enjoyed my coffee coffee to drink.
And then I started to think about all the people that don’t have that.
And all the people that would wake up in pain that day or the woman who might wake up afraid for her husband to wake up because he beats her when he gets mad, are the girl who’s been abducted into psych trafficking.
And when she wakes up, all she has to look forward to is being used twelve times that day by some man who’s paid for her body.
And I thought, I have so many miracles around me all the time.
And I thought since the subject came up, that would be really good to just share with people.
First of all, you are a miracle. To keep you alive one day requires a miracle.
If you think about a loved one who’s not saved, Don’t ever first of all, don’t ever say you’re never gonna change.
And don’t ever say this will never happen because the apostle Paul was on his way to capture and imprison Christians, and he was converted on the road to Damascus.
Suddenly, a bright light showing around him.
He fell off his horse and, you know, he was confronted by Jesus.
So you never you just never know what God is gonna do.
But I think the best way to get a miracle in your life is to expect 1.
And maybe we don’t see as many as we should or could because we don’t expect them.
We don’t we we forget sometimes
Yeah.
How big god is. Just listen to this. There are over 18,000 species of just birds.
18,000. There are 900,000 different kinds of living insects in the world.
3000 different kinds of snakes, and most people don’t even like them.
In the Andes Mountain, there’s a bat, the size of a Raspberry.
Oh, wow. I’d like to see that little guy.
The size of a Raspberry. In addition to that, think of all the animals that god’s created and all the all the different marine life that’s in the I mean, god is so creative and so amazing And I have a very hard time personally understanding how anybody cannot believe in god because surely people I mean, it would take more faith for me to be an atheist than it does to be a believer because how could all of this just happen?
Well and for me, there is such, um, just reassurance in all of that that there is such an intricate cycle of everything that happens in our bodies in the world.
And if God can take care of all of that. He can do anything.
Right.
You know, there’s nothing I can ask of him That is too big for him
to handle. Exactly. And, you know, if god doesn’t give us what we want, then we need to trust him enough to believe that He always has reasons for what he does.
Yeah.
And we may not understand them. We often say we live life forward, but we understand it backward.
There were a lot of very hard things that I went through in my life that I didn’t understand why god didn’t deliver me from them, but I look back now And I understand that actually that hard thing did something good for me, even though if it would have been my choice, I would have gotten rid of it at the time.
Yeah. So listen to this. There are 200000000000 to 2000000000000 galaxies in the universe.
Wow. And so it’s never ending. Yeah. Never ending. All things are possible with god.
There are a 100,000,000,000 to 1,000,000,000,000 big gap there.
Yeah. That is a
People people can’t count it. Stars in just our galaxy, just our galaxy.
The temperature at the core of the sun is 15,000,000 degrees Celsius.
God is so amazing. And, yes, if you’ve ever wondered if god is still doing miracles today, god is busy doing miracles all day long.
We just don’t take the time Yeah. To think about it and to be aware of it.
The world is full of amazing wonder, and we just rush right past it in our busy little lives and don’t take the time to think about it our look at it.
And it really changes our outlook when we do.
It changes so much for us, and it gives us that hope
Right.
That we need for each day because like like you, I I have seen amazing miracles.
I mean, I’ve seen some things that you just cannot expect.
Your father received a healing miracle.
Absolutely. He he was given so little hope with his cancer.
And now we we’ve had wonderful years with him since then. We’re we’re so grateful.
And I’ve also seen seen things not go the way that I prayed for and wanted to, and it’s heartbreaking.
But what I really learned through all that is that there’s so much more hope in in trusting god and understanding, you know, that the world is the way that it is but that god is bigger than any of it.
So if there is at least the hope that god can do this when I ask him for it, it’s better than sitting back and saying nothing’s going to happen.
Right. So I’m
gonna live with that hope, and I’m gonna see the wonder and all the things that god is doing, rather than and because I’ve been both places rather than saying, no.
There’s no point. There is a point.
Day before yesterday, I got up and, I’d had a little issue with somebody.
And, you know, I was working through the process of forgiveness. And, Sometimes it takes a few days.
You know, you decide to forgive, but then the devil will keep reminding you.
And so I got up and headed.
We’re always head for the coffee pot in my time with Jesus.
And, uh, my thoughts initially kinda wanted to go to the negative.
And I just quickly said, nope. I am not gonna go there.
I’m gonna think about how blessed I am.
And so I just started thinking about, you know, I have a husband I’ve been married to for 56 years.
I’ve got 4 children. I’ve got 12 grandchildren. I’m living in a nice house. I’ve got my coffee here.
I’ve friends. You know, I don’t you know, we we have to think about what we do have, not what we don’t have.
And I wanna say again because I think it’s important for people to hear this.
I feel like that there’s people listening today that are a little bit miffed at god.
Because things didn’t work out the way they ask, and they’ve let it confuse them.
Because, you know, the Bible talks about healing, and it says lay hands on the sick.
They shall recover. Mhmm. And, you know, a lot of times, the Bible says that all that came to Jesus were healed, but then Paul had something physically wrong with his eyes.
Yeah.
And aphrodite is in the Bible almost died because of overwork in the ministry, Timothy obviously had a stomach problem.
And So not not a it doesn’t always work the same way all the time.
So I I wanna say again, ask god for what you you want, trust him for what you want, but if you don’t get it, trust him anyway, because it’s it’s trust in god that honors him.
The Bible says in John 1140 only believe, and you will see the glory of God.
And the glory you see may not be the glory that you wanna to see, but it will still turn out glorious.
The Bible says I think it’s somewhere in Luke Who will he find in faith when he returns?
And I think it’s just become very important to me in my life that no matter what is going on, that I just remain in faith and trust god because he is faithful.
If he can do these things that we talked about, I mean, just to keep the earth rotating on its axis every day, what if it just fell off?
You know, I mean, surely if god can do that, he can do whatever little thing I need or you need.
Yeah. And I trust him enough that if he doesn’t do it when I want it the way I want it, I I’ve just decided to believe that then he’s got something better in mind.
Maybe I didn’t know how to ask for the better thing. So once again, yes.
God’s still doing miracles today. He’s always been doing miracles. He’s never stopped. And he never will stop.
