“Let all the earth fear the Lord, and let all its inhabitants stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood firm. The Lord frustrates the plans of nations and nullifies the schemes of peoples. But the counsel of the Lord endures forever, His plans are unshakable, lasting through all generations. (Psalm 33:8-11)
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people He has chosen as His own inheritance.” (Psalm 33:12)
This brings us to the focus of today’s message: the uniqueness of the nation chosen by God as His inheritance. Can you name that nation? Yes, it is Israel.
This may not be a widely accepted teaching, but it is the truth. Today’s theme is about the uniqueness of Israel, which, I must say, can be a controversial topic. We live in a humanistic, egalitarian society where differences between people are increasingly ignored. We’re told there’s no distinction between man and woman, no difference among races—we are all the same. But that’s simply not true.
Being different does not mean being inferior. If you don’t acknowledge differences, you risk causing confusion. God has set Israel apart as a unique nation, and this is a key reason why they’ve faced persecution for centuries. People resist what is different.
The truth is, Israel is different, and no matter what, that cannot change. Today, some in Israel seek to escape their uniqueness. For instance, Israel’s current Prime Minister once declared, “We are a people just like all other peoples,” but that statement doesn’t change the fact that Israel is unique.
We need to face this reality: Israel is distinct. I will share several scriptures to highlight the uniqueness of Israel. The first is from 1 Chronicles 17:21, which is part of a prayer by King David. David says, “And who is like Your people Israel, the one nation on earth that God went to redeem for Himself as a people…” (1 Chronicles 17:21). This makes it clear: Israel is unique, the only nation God redeemed for Himself.
Next, in Exodus 19:5-6, God speaks to Moses at Mount Sinai, outlining Israel’s purpose: “Now, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all peoples, for all the earth is Mine. You shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.” God set Israel apart for three distinct purposes: to be His special treasure, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.
Throughout history, the enemy has tried to delay God’s purpose for Israel, but he will never be able to stop it. Ultimately, Israel will fulfill its divine destiny: to be a special treasure, a kingdom of priests, and a holy nation.
In the New Testament, especially in Paul’s writings, we see more about Israel’s unique role. In Romans 3:1-2, Paul asks, “What advantage, then, has the Jew? Or what is the profit of circumcision?” The answer: “Much in every way. Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.” Israel’s distinct role is clear: they were entrusted with the Word of God, the Bible, which was given to them for the benefit of all nations. Without Israel, there would be no Bible.
This fact alone makes Israel unique and crucial. As Paul notes in Romans 1:14-15, he felt indebted to both Greeks and non-Greeks, emphasizing that the Word of God must be shared with everyone. Israel’s role is central to God’s plan for the world.
