The Modernization of Witchcraft: Is Jesus Enough?
Hello everyone, I’m Stephanie Iko Kafer, and welcome to Part 6 of our series on the Modernization of Witchcraft. In last week’s discussion, we explored the truth behind African spirituality, which revealed fascinating insights. Through my research and interviews with people practicing African spirituality, I discovered that it’s not just about people leaving Christianity for African spirituality; many are practicing both, attending church while embracing these spiritual beliefs.

Today, we’re diving into the concept of Crystal Healing, Sage Cleansing, Somatic Release, and asking the important question: Is Jesus Enough? The aim of today’s discussion isn’t to focus on the details of crystals, somatic release, tarot readings, or Ayahuasca. In the video description, I’ll share links to some trusted resources and videos I’ve done previously on individual topics related to New Age beliefs.

There’s always something new emerging under the umbrella of New Age spirituality. Right now, somatic release is trending—something I had never heard of a few years ago. It’s a practice that mirrors the concept of deliverance in Christianity. These New Age practices often promise access to supernatural healing or deliverance, which has gained popularity in mainstream culture. As new practices constantly emerge, it’s important to question what spirits or energies are truly behind them.

This phenomenon has become deeply commercialized, with psychic shops and healers turning their services into businesses. What once felt sacred has now become transactional. People visit these healers, believing they are solving their problems, but many don’t stop to ask themselves: What is truly driving these practices?

The core of all these practices—whether it’s tarot card reading, crystal healing, or sage cleansing—is demonic intelligence. Satan often masquerades as an angel of light, cleverly presenting practices that serve his kingdom in ways that seem trendy and harmless. For example, you may see Christians using sage or crystals in their homes, posting it on social media, and claiming to cleanse their spaces. It looks cool, but when you dig deeper, you’ll find that many people are engaging in these practices without fully understanding their origins.

Interestingly, when indigenous tribes who traditionally practiced sage cleansing see how it’s used in pop culture, they are disgusted, as it has been misrepresented and commercialized. This shows how people often participate in spiritual practices without understanding their true significance, simply because they are trendy.

It’s crucial to pause and reflect: Where do these practices come from? What empowers them? Take sage, for instance. How does a plant have the power to cleanse a home of evil spirits? Why not use a plant like aloe vera or asparagus? The truth is, it all boils down to demonic intelligence. The enemy is crafty and knows how to deceive. These spiritual entities have existed long before humanity and understand our weaknesses deeply.

The essence of this series is to help you understand the roots of these practices and to provoke curiosity and knowledge. When the Lord led me to create this series, He wanted people to see that while these practices may seem harmless or fashionable, their true origins are much darker.
