Michael Todd Daily Devotional – October 26, 2026
If today feels a little heavy, a little uncertain, or a little confusing, you are not alone. God sees you right where you are—in the kitchen before the kids wake up, on your commute, at your desk, or lying awake in bed wondering how it will all work out. This devotional for October 26, 2026 is a gentle reminder that God is not distant from your reality. He is closer than your next breath, and He is writing a story of hope, restoration, and breakthrough over your life. As you read and pray, let your heart relax into the truth that Jesus is both willing and able to carry what you cannot.
Anchored in the Promise
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6, NIV)
This verse is simple enough to memorize, yet deep enough to wrestle with for a lifetime. Trusting God with “all your heart” means surrendering the parts you don’t understand—the unanswered prayers, the delays, the disappointments. Leaning not on your own understanding means choosing God’s wisdom over your feelings and fears. When you bring every area of your life under His leadership—your family, health, work, finances, and future—He doesn’t promise an easy road, but He does promise a “straight” path: a guided, purposeful journey aligned with His best for you.
When Life Feels Out of Control
There are days when you feel like you’re doing everything you can, yet nothing seems to move. Maybe you’ve prayed for a miracle, sent the résumés, tried to fix the relationship, or done your best to stay positive—still, things look stuck. This is exactly where trust has to become more than a church word. Trust is a decision you make when your emotions are screaming the opposite.
Today, instead of asking, “How will this ever change?” begin asking, “Lord, how do You want to grow me through this?” Invite God into the details: the email you’re afraid to send, the bill you don’t know how to pay, the conversation you’re dreading. Take one practical step: write down the top three things worrying you, and next to each one write, “I choose to trust God with this today.” Your circumstances may not shift instantly, but your heart posture will.
Drawing Near in Faith
Father, in Jesus’ name, I bring my faith to You—small, shaky, imperfect, yet real. I confess that sometimes it’s easier to worry than to trust, easier to plan than to pray. Today I lay down my need to control and I invite You to be Lord over my story again. Deepen my faith beyond feelings; let it be rooted in who You are, not in what I see.
Grow me spiritually, Lord. Stir a fresh hunger for Your Word. Help me carve out time to sit with You, listen for Your voice, and obey Your leading. Where my heart has become numb or cynical, breathe new life. Where I’ve believed lies about You or about myself, replace them with Your truth. I choose to trust that You are good, You are near, and You are working all things together for my good and for Your glory, even when I cannot see it yet.
Grace Over Our Homes
God, I lift my family and loved ones to You. Cover our homes with Your peace that pushes out anxiety, tension, and fear. Heal broken communication, soften hard hearts, and restore relationships that have been strained. Teach us to forgive quickly, apologize sincerely, and love sacrificially. Let Your presence be felt in every room—at the dinner table, in late-night conversations, and in quiet moments when no one else sees. Surround our children, spouses, parents, and friends with Your wisdom and protection. May our homes reflect the kindness, patience, and unity of Christ.
Strength for Body, Mind, and Soul
Lord, I bring my health to You—every doctor’s report, every ache, every hidden fear. You are Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals. Strengthen my body, regulate what is out of balance, and restore what has been damaged. For those battling chronic pain, serious diagnoses, or invisible emotional wounds, let Your comfort be tangible today.
