Dr. Bill Winston Daily Devotional — October 10, 2026
Today, as you pause in the middle of your busy life, God is leaning in closer than you think. He knows the pressures you feel, the decisions you face, and the questions you may be too tired to even ask. This devotional is a simple invitation: take His hand again. You may feel stretched, misunderstood, or even a little worn down in your faith, but you are not alone. The same God who called you by name has already gone ahead of you into this day. As you read and pray, expect your heart to be strengthened, your vision renewed, and your hope lifted. The Lord has something specific for you today—right where you are, in the middle of real life in America, with real challenges and real needs. He is ready to meet you.
Anchored in a Greater Promise
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7, NKJV) This short verse carries a powerful invitation. God is reminding you that your life is not determined by what you see with your natural eyes—bank accounts, medical reports, news headlines, or people’s opinions. Instead, your true reality is shaped by His promises. To “walk by faith” means you choose to trust what God has said more than what your circumstances are shouting. It doesn’t mean you ignore facts; it means you bring those facts under the authority of God’s Word. When fear whispers, “Nothing will change,” faith answers, “My God is still working.” Today, let this verse pull your gaze up from the problems in front of you to the faithful God who stands above them.
Living Faith in Everyday Moments
Faith is not just for church services or emergency situations—it is for traffic jams, kitchen tables, office emails, and quiet late-night hours. Walking by faith can look like choosing to speak peace instead of anger when tensions rise at home. It can be deciding to tithe even when money feels tight, trusting that God is your source. It might mean forgiving someone who hurt you because you believe God can heal your heart and redeem the situation. Every day presents dozens of little crossroads where you either lean on your own understanding or lean on God. Ask the Holy Spirit to nudge you in those moments. He delights in training you, step by step, to see life through heaven’s lens. As your perspective shifts, you’ll find new courage to keep going and fresh joy in places that once felt heavy.
Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender
Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring my heart to You today. I confess that sometimes what I see feels louder than what You’ve spoken. But right now, I choose to agree with Your Word. Strengthen my faith where it has grown weak. Remind me that I am not defined by my past, my failures, or my fears, but by Your love and Your calling.
Lord, teach me to trust You more deeply. Help me surrender the parts of my life I’ve been clinging to—my timelines, my expectations, my worries. Train me to hear Your voice above the noise of this world. Stir a fresh hunger for Your presence and Your Word. Let my faith grow roots so deep that when storms come, I remain standing, anchored in You.
Today, I receive Your wisdom, Your peace, and Your courage. Lead me by Your Spirit. Let every step I take be a step of faith, pleasing to You, and aligned with Your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace
Lord God, I lift my family and loved ones before You. You see every home represented in this prayer, every marriage, every single parent, every child, every prodigal. I ask that Your peace would rest on our households like a warm blanket. Heal strained relationships and soften hardened hearts. Give us grace to listen, to forgive, and to speak life instead of criticism.
Protect our children and grandchildren—in their schools, friendships, and online spaces. Guard them from confusion, fear, and compromise. Let our homes be places where Your presence is welcome and Your name is honored. Restore what has been broken and mend what has been torn. Let love, respect, and unity grow stronger day by day, by the power of Your Spirit.
