The One and Only: Farewell to Hebrews
Saying goodbye is never easy. Tonight, as we close our deep journey through the book of Hebrews, we pause to reflect on the eternal truths that have guided us for over four years. This study has reminded us that there truly is only one—the one and only Savior, Jesus Christ, who bridges the gap between God and mankind.
From Abraham to David, Old Testament saints looked forward to the Messiah. We look back at what God accomplished through Christ at the cross. Both eras meet there—His sacrifice uniting generations in hope and redemption. Hebrews has shown us the sufficiency of Christ: He is the one mediator, the perfect sacrifice, and the foundation of our faith.
Our study began with the “Knowable God” in Hebrews 1:1–2, revealing that God has spoken through His Son, through whom all things were created—the seen and the unseen universe. Jesus is not just a figure in history; He is the living Word, the eternal covenant, the way, the truth, and the life.
As we close, Hebrews 13:20–21 reminds us: “May the God of peace…equip you with everything good for doing His will, working in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ.” This farewell is a blessing—a divine reminder that God’s work in us is ongoing. We are His masterpiece, created for good works prepared before our birth. Our lives are not random; they are designed by God Himself.
The message is simple yet profound: there is only one path to salvation—through Jesus Christ. No religion, no law, no self-effort can redeem us. Only His blood can wash away our sins, covering us fully, forever. Whether Jew or Gentile, all who call on His name are saved. This is the everlasting covenant, the promise of God, secured in Christ and extending mercy and life to all who believe.
Tonight, as we say farewell to Hebrews, let us also embrace the call to live fully in this truth. Let us step out, not cautiously, but boldly, trusting that God has already prepared the path for each of us. Let us bless one another, live as the church of the living God, and let His truth shine through our lives.
Through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever—Amen.
