Lysa TerKeurst Daily Devotional – October 15, 2026: When Your Heart Feels Pulled Apart

If your heart feels tugged in a hundred directions today, you are not alone. Maybe you woke up with yesterday’s disappointment still clinging to your thoughts. Maybe you’re trying to hold it together for everyone else while secretly wondering who is holding you. As you read these words, pause for a moment and breathe. God is already here. He sees the tears you hid, the questions you can’t quite put into words, and the quiet strength it took to show up today. This devotional is a gentle reminder that in the middle of the mess, God has not walked away. He is still writing your story with tenderness, purpose, and unfailing love.

Anchored by a Quiet Promise

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” (Exodus 14:14, NIV) The Israelites stood frozen with the Red Sea in front of them and Pharaoh’s army behind them. Every escape route seemed blocked. Maybe that’s how you feel—trapped between what has hurt you and what still scares you. Yet God’s instruction was not to strive harder but to be still and watch Him move. Being still doesn’t mean doing nothing; it means releasing your tight grip on the outcome and trusting the God who sees the end from the beginning. When you can’t fix it, God doesn’t shame you; He invites you to rest while He fights for you.

Holding Hope in the Middle of the Story

We often want God to work like a microwave, but He usually works more like a slow cooker. Breakthroughs simmer over time. Healing unfolds in layers. Growth comes through small, hidden decisions to trust Him again and again. Today, instead of asking, “How will this ever work out?” try asking, “Lord, how can I walk with You in this moment?” That simple shift opens your heart to His presence right where you are—doing laundry, sitting in traffic, answering emails, caring for kids, or quietly battling anxiety. You don’t have to feel strong to be faithful. You just have to take the next surrendered step—offer the kind word, choose forgiveness, open your Bible, whisper a prayer instead of spiraling in worry. These ordinary acts of obedience become sacred spaces where God grows unshakeable hope.

Drawing Near in Faith and Spiritual Growth

Father, in Jesus’ name, I bring my faith before You today—small, shaky, and imperfect, yet real. Strengthen my belief where doubt has worn me thin. Help me trust Your character even when I don’t understand Your timing. Teach me to crave Your presence more than I crave answers. Grow in me a heart that comes first to You instead of running to every other source of comfort or validation. Stir a fresh hunger for Your Word. As I read Scripture, let it read me, gently correcting, comforting, and realigning my thoughts with Your truth. Guard me from spiritual numbness. Wake me up from going through the motions. Let my relationship with You be alive, honest, and deeply rooted. Today, I choose again to say: “Lord, I am Yours. Lead my steps, shape my desires, and use my life for Your glory.”

Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace

Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You know every tension, every silent hurt, every unspoken fear beneath our conversations. Bring Your peace into our home—peace that settles arguments, softens hard hearts, and heals old wounds. Where there is distance, restore connection. Where there is misunderstanding, bring clarity and compassion. Protect our marriages, our children, our friendships, and those who feel alone. Give us the humility to apologize quickly and the courage to forgive fully. Let our home be a place where grace is practiced, laughter is welcomed, and Your presence is felt. Wrap Your arms around the ones who are far away or estranged. Remind them they are loved, seen, and never out of Your reach.

Health, Healing, and Inner Strength

God, You know every ache in my body and every weight on my mind. For anyone walking through sickness, pain, or emotional exhaustion today, I ask for Your healing touch. Strengthen immune systems, calm racing hearts, and steady anxious thoughts. Give wisdom to doctors and clarity in medical decisions. For those fighting depression or burnout, breathe fresh hope into their lungs. Replace shame with compassion, and isolation with supportive community. Teach me to steward my body as Your creation—resting
