John MacArthur Daily Devotional – October 26, 2026: Standing Steady in a Shaken World

If your heart feels a little unsettled today, you are not alone. Our nation wrestles with confusion, families navigate pressure, and even faithful believers can feel the ground shifting beneath their feet. Yet in the middle of all this, God’s Word remains unshakable. The Lord has not stepped off His throne. He has not misplaced your life, your tears, or your future. As you read this devotional and pray through each section, let your soul breathe again. God is nearer than your fears, stronger than your circumstances, and kinder than your anxieties would have you believe.

Rooted in an Unshakable Promise

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV)

This simple verse might be one of the most stabilizing truths you can hold onto right now. People change, laws change, jobs come and go, health rises and falls—but Jesus never changes. The same Savior who saved you is the Savior who keeps you. The same grace that met you at the cross will meet you in your cubicle, your kitchen, your hospital room, or your quiet drive to work today. When everything else feels uncertain, you can anchor your heart to the unchanging character of Christ. His love is not moody. His mercy does not run on your performance. He is faithful, steady, and completely committed to finishing the work He started in you.

Living Out Faith in the Ordinary Moments

Trusting God is not just for Sunday mornings; it’s for Mondays in traffic, Wednesday night exhaustion, and late-night worries that keep you awake. Today, you can live out your faith in simple, concrete ways. When fears rise, whisper His name instead of rehearsing your “what ifs.” When decisions feel heavy, pause and ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom before you react. When discouragement presses in, open your Bible—even if it’s just for a few minutes—and let truth correct the lies in your mind. You do not have to feel strong to walk by faith; you simply need to keep putting one obedient step in front of the other, trusting that God is guiding even when you cannot see the whole road.

Prayer for Deepening Faith and Steady Trust

Lord Jesus, strengthen my faith today. When doubts whisper that You have forgotten me, remind me that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. Grow my trust so that I lean on Your Word more than on my emotions or the news cycle. Teach me to surrender my plans to Your wisdom and timing. Help me to love what You love, hate what You hate, and desire Your glory more than my own comfort. Let my life reflect the reality that You are enough for me—enough in my disappointments, enough in my successes, enough in every season. Draw me closer, deepen my roots, and make me stable in You.

Prayer for Family, Home, and Relationships

Father, I lift my family and relationships to You. Bring peace into our home where there has been tension or distance. Heal old wounds, soften hard hearts, and give us grace to listen, apologize, and forgive. Cover my spouse, children, parents, and loved ones with Your protection. Guard us from division, bitterness, and misunderstanding. Let our conversations be gentle and truthful. May our home be a place where Your presence is felt, Your name is spoken with honor, and Your Word is treasured. Restore broken relationships, strengthen healthy ones, and teach us to love one another the way You have loved us in Christ.

Prayer for Health, Strength, and Inner Healing

Lord, You see every ache of my body and every hidden pain of my heart. I ask for Your healing touch over my physical health—regulate what is out of order, calm what is inflamed, and renew what is weak. Give wisdom to doctors and clarity to medical decisions. Beyond my body, tend to my emotional and mental well-being. Lift the heaviness of anxiety, depression, or fear. Fill the places of emptiness with Your comfort. Grant me restful sleep, refreshed energy, and a sound mind anchored in Your promises. Remind me that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit and give me strength to care for it with wisdom, discipline, and gratitude.
