Jack Hibbs : LIFT Daily Prayer: Comfort and Build One Another Up
LIFT Daily Prayer: Encouraging Hearts and Uplifting Lives
Today’s Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:11 – “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as you are already doing.”
Good morning, friends, and happy Sunday, November 9th. Some of you are at church, some on your way, some have already been. Wherever you are, one truth remains: you are not alone. God has placed people around us to live out His church—not just in name, but in action.
Paul’s words remind us: encourage one another, lift each other up, and continue faithfully doing so. There are three simple yet powerful actions here: comfort, edify, and keep doing it.
Imagine if we treated everyone we meet with this intentional love—family, friends, neighbors, even strangers. A kind word, a listening ear, a small act of encouragement—these gestures reflect Christ’s heart. Decide today: I will comfort someone. I will uplift someone. I will continue doing it. Let God guide how you do it—maybe a prayer, a hug, a note, or simply a word of thanks.
Father, we come before You this Sunday, seeking Your Spirit of comfort. In the midst of the busy holiday season, remind us why we are here: to support, to uplift, and to love one another. Help us be Your hands and feet today. Let our words and actions reflect Your heart.
Lord, pour Your Spirit upon each of us. Convict us where we’ve neglected to reach out, and give us the courage to speak words of encouragement. May we build each other up, recognizing the faithfulness in those around us—the greeter at church, the coworker, the neighbor, the friend. Teach us to keep doing this faithfully, every day, just as You have called us to do.
Father, we lay our lives at Your feet, surrendering our independence and asking for Your covering and guidance. Let our actions be a testimony of Your love, even in a world that can feel dark and divided. Strengthen us to continue uplifting and comforting one another until we see Your face.
Thank You, Lord, for the freedom to worship You openly. May we honor You with our words, our actions, and our hearts today. Bless everyone listening, and help us be a source of light and encouragement wherever we go.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
