Cut It Down (A Prophetic Word) | Tim Sheets
For the past several weeks, I have been speaking with you about a living hope that anchors the soul and secures the future. We have seen that this is a season for restoration. It is time for the Lord, our Shepherd, just as He did for David in Psalm 23, to restore our souls.
There are moments in life when inner healing becomes necessary if we are going to reign well in the responsibilities God has given us. David could not lead Israel effectively until wounds in his soul were healed. Rejection, fear, loneliness, and even pain from childhood had to be restored before he could fully step into his calling as king.
The same is true for us. God desires to heal and renew our souls so we can live with strength, clarity, and purpose.
A few weeks ago, I heard these words rise strongly in my spirit. They came with unusual clarity and carried a powerful promise of hope for the days ahead:
“It is time, and I will give beauty for ashes in amplified ways during this season. Transforming anointing will destroy yokes of oppression, hopelessness, and soul bondage. It will be poured out in great measure. Soul wounds are being healed, bringing full recovery to My people. I will also give the oil of joy for mourning and the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”
Those words remained in my heart for days. I kept reflecting on them, praying over them, and listening for deeper understanding. Then the Holy Spirit reminded me of a prophetic word given several years earlier, but this time He expanded it for the present moment.
The Lord spoke this message to His Church:
“A supernatural season of exchange has come. It is time for My people to be changed, liberated, and established in the freedoms I planned for them. Step into the reality of My great exchange. Leave behind the ashes your enemies used to stain your soul. Leave behind grief, heaviness, and despair. Wrap yourself in the promises of your Prince of Peace.
Live in the identity I have revealed to you as My children and heirs. Live in My nature flowing through your everyday life. Come to the place of holy exchange.
Is not My altar the place where exchange happens?
Your sin for My life.
Your chains for My freedom.
Your guilt for My pardon.
Your shame for My innocence.
Your weakness for My strength.
Your striving for My grace.
Your defeat for My victory.
Your fear for My boldness.
Your failure for My success.
Your sickness for My healing.
Give Me your ashes, and I will give you beauty. Give Me your grief, and I will give you joy. Give Me your heaviness, and I will clothe you with praise. Receive what Heaven is pouring out in this season.”
As I meditated on that word, my thoughts turned immediately to Isaiah 61. This passage is more than ancient Scripture. It is a living word filled with present power. It is not only something written long ago. It is something God is breathing fresh life into right now.
Isaiah 61:1–3 says:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord; to comfort all who mourn; to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
Notice the result of this divine exchange: God renames His people. Those who were broken become strong. Those who were burdened become stable. Those who were weary become rooted and fruitful. He calls them trees of righteousness.
That image speaks of strength. Like mighty oak trees, they stand firm through storms, deeply rooted and able to endure every season.
You may feel weak because of what you have faced, but Heaven is releasing fresh joy to strengthen you. God never calls His children weak. He calls them strong in Him.
That is why Scripture says, “Let the weak say, I am strong.”
Even if life has knocked you down, God can raise you up stronger than before. Many people who once lay broken under the weight of tragedy now stand like oak trees because God restored their souls.
Hope is one of the greatest forces God has placed within the human heart. It energizes the spirit, renews vision, strengthens resolve, and helps us keep moving forward.
Hebrews 6:19 describes hope as an anchor for the soul. Just as an anchor holds a ship steady during violent storms, hope keeps us grounded during the fiercest seasons of life.
Storms come unexpectedly. Trials can appear without warning. Some battles are painful and confusing. But hope keeps the soul from drifting.
The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 5:5 that hope does not disappoint.
What a promise.
Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us:
“I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Never forget that.
God has good plans for you.
God hears your prayers.
God sees your pain.
God knows how to restore losses.
God knows how to turn things around.
God knows how to bring beauty out of ashes.
God knows how to bring joy in the middle of trouble.
Many people go through disappointments. That does not mean they have failed. It does not mean they lack faith. It means they are human beings living in a broken world.
But even in painful seasons, God remains faithful.
Romans 8:28 teaches that He works all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
This does not mean every painful event was good. It means God knows how to bring good again. He knows how to restore life. He knows how to rebuild what was damaged.
The Apostle Paul also teaches us to forget certain things behind us and press forward toward what lies ahead.
Some wounds must be released. Some losses must be surrendered. Some memories must no longer control your future.
Do not keep staring at what hell tried to destroy. Cut it down and move forward in faith.
Plant hope again.
There was once a pastor friend who called me during a devastating season. His family was hurting, pressure was overwhelming, and the future looked dark. He said something unforgettable:
“I can see yesterday clearly, but I cannot see tomorrow.”
That is what hopelessness feels like.
But I told him, “Yes, there are tomorrows. And they will be better than your yesterdays. The God who was faithful before is still faithful now, and He will be faithful in your future.”
Sometimes you must plant hope again on purpose.
Even when emotions are heavy.
Even when disappointment feels real.
Even when you do not understand the storm.
Even when healing seems delayed.
Plant hope again.
Trust the goodness of God again. Believe in tomorrow again. Speak life again. Pray again. Dream again.
Your story is not over.
The Lord is still restoring souls. He is still giving beauty for ashes. He is still pouring out the oil of joy for mourning. He is still clothing His people with garments of praise.
And He is still leading His children into a future filled with hope.
