Tony Evans Daily Devotional – October 27, 2026: Holding On When You Feel Worn Out

If your heart feels tired today, you’re not alone. Maybe you’ve been praying about the same situation for months—or years—and nothing seems to move. Maybe your family is heavy on your mind, bills are stacked on the counter, or your body feels weaker than it used to. Yet right here, in the middle of your weariness, God sees you. He has not stepped away from your story. Today’s devotional is an invitation to lean in a little closer, to believe again that your Father is working behind the scenes, even when your emotions say otherwise.

Strength in the Middle of the Storm

“But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31, ESV) This verse doesn’t promise instant escape from our problems. Instead, it promises renewed strength while we are still in them. To “wait for the Lord” means to trust Him with expectancy—to lean the full weight of our hope on His character, not on what we can see today. God is not asking you to be strong on your own; He is offering His strength in place of your exhaustion. When you feel like you’re walking and can’t run anymore, He says, “I will carry you higher than your circumstances.”

Living With Hope in Ordinary Moments

Faith is not only for Sunday morning; it is for the rush-hour traffic, the anxious late-night thoughts, and the quiet tears no one else sees. Today, choose one area where you have been trying to control the outcome—your child’s choices, a medical report, a strained relationship, or your financial pressure. Pause and tell God plainly, “Lord, I surrender this to You.” Then act in faith: send the encouraging text, make the necessary phone call, look over the budget with honesty, or schedule the appointment you’ve been avoiding. Your actions do not replace trust; they express it. You are not drifting through random events—your life is being held together by a purposeful God who wastes nothing.

Prayer for a Deepening Faith

Father, in Jesus’ name, I bring my faith to You just as it is. Where it feels shaky, steady it. Where it feels small, grow it. Help me to trust Your heart when I cannot trace Your hand. Teach me to listen for Your voice through Your Word and by Your Spirit. Renew my desire to seek You first, before I seek solutions, opinions, or quick fixes. Root me so deeply in Your love that disappointments cannot uproot my hope. Let my faith be more than words; let it shape how I think, respond, and make decisions today. I choose to believe that You are good, You are near, and You are working for my ultimate good and Your glory.

Prayer for Family and Home

Lord, I lift up my family and everyone connected to my home. Cover us with Your peace. Heal old wounds, soften hardened hearts, and restore what has been broken by anger, distance, or misunderstanding. Give us the courage to apologize where we’ve been wrong and the grace to forgive where we’ve been hurt. Protect our marriages, our children, our friendships, and our extended family relationships. Let my home be a place where Your presence is welcome, where Scripture is honored, where love is spoken more than criticism, and where laughter can return, even after difficult seasons.

Prayer for Health and Emotional Healing

God, You know every ache in my body and every unspoken fear in my mind. I ask for Your healing touch over my health today. Strengthen my immune system, restore what is damaged, and guide me toward wise choices for rest, nutrition, and care. Calm the anxiety that keeps me awake at night and the sadness that weighs heavy on my chest. In Jesus’ name, break the grip of fear, depression, and hopelessness. Let Your joy become my strength and Your peace guard my heart and mind. Help me steward this body and mind as a temple of Your Holy Spirit, trusting You with every diagnosis and every unknown.

Prayer for Work, Finances, and Daily Provision

Father, I place my work and finances in Your hands. For my job, give me diligence, integrity, and favor. Where there is conflict or unfairness, be my defender. Where there is uncertainty or unemployment, open doors that no one can shut.
