Lisa Harper Daily Devotional – October 23, 2026
If you woke up this morning feeling a little stretched thin, a little weary, or maybe even quietly afraid of what might be waiting for you today, you are not alone. God sees you right where you are—coffee in hand, dishes in the sink, emails piling up—and He is not disappointed in you. He is drawing near. This devotional for October 23, 2026, is an invitation to breathe again, to remember that your story is held by a faithful God who has never once lost track of you. As you read, let your heart soften and your shoulders drop. The Lord is already here, already working, already loving you more than you can comprehend.
Anchored by a Promise
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3, NIV)
This is more than a pretty verse to hang on a wall. It is a promise for ordinary people who feel anything but “perfectly peaceful.” God is not asking you to hold yourself together; He is inviting you to fix your mind on Him while He holds you together. “Steadfast” doesn’t mean you never wobble. It means when fear rushes in, you keep turning your thoughts back to the One who never changes. The peace He offers isn’t shallow or fragile. It is deep, steady, and strong enough to stand up to medical reports, unpaid bills, strained relationships, and uncertain futures. Today, God’s Word whispers: Keep looking at Me. I will guard your heart and mind with My peace.
When Life Feels Like Too Much
Some days feel like a tug-of-war on your soul. You want to trust God, but the news cycle, social media, and your own worries keep pulling your mind in a dozen different directions. In moments like this, spiritual growth isn’t about dramatic mountaintop experiences; it is about small, honest choices in the middle of your ordinary life.
When anxiety flares, pause and say, “Jesus, I choose to trust You in this.” When you feel unworthy, remind yourself, “I am loved because of Christ, not because of my performance.” When frustration rises in traffic or at the office, whisper, “Lord, help me respond with Your patience.” These little, repeated choices reshape your heart. Faith grows as you practice turning back to God in real time, not just in church on Sunday. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to interrupt your automatic reactions and gently nudge you toward hope, kindness, and courage.
Drawing Near in Faith
Father, in the name of Jesus, I bring my faith—frail or strong, shaky or steady—and place it in Your capable hands. Grow in me a trust that is deeper than my feelings and stronger than my circumstances. When doubts whisper that You have forgotten me, help me answer with Your Word and Your promises. Teach me to lean into Your heart when I do not understand what You are doing. Draw me into a more intimate walk with You, where prayer becomes my first response instead of a last resort. Strengthen my spiritual muscles so that I don’t quit when life gets hard. Shape my desires so that I long for Your presence more than I long for control, comfort, or applause. As I walk through this day, let my thoughts, my words, and my choices declare that You are good, You are faithful, and You are worthy of my full trust.
Grace Over Our Homes
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You see every hidden worry I carry for them—the child who is struggling, the spouse who feels stretched thin, the friend who is silently hurting. Cover our homes with Your peace. Let Your love soften hard conversations and heal old wounds. Give us patience with each other’s weaknesses and grace for each other’s flaws. Protect our marriages, our children, our friendships, and our extended families from division and bitterness. Replace tension with tenderness and criticism with compassion. May our homes become places where Your name is honored, where forgiveness is practiced, and where weary hearts find rest. Surround those I love with godly influences, wise counsel, and safe relationships. Let Your presence be the unseen guest and the steady foundation in every room.
Healing in Body, Mind, and Heart
Jesus, You are the Great Physician, and I bring my health and the health of those I love before You. For every ache, diagnosis, sleepless night, and anxious thought, I ask for Your healing
