Pastor Greg Laurie Daily Devotional – October 18, 2026: Holding On to Hope When You Feel Worn Out

If you’re feeling tired on the inside today—tired in your soul, not just your body—you’re not alone. Many believers across our nation are quietly carrying heavy loads: worries about the future, concerns about children, bills stacking up, health uncertainties, and moments where God feels strangely silent. Yet right in the middle of all of this, Jesus gently invites you to come closer, not to pull away. Today’s devotional is a reminder that you are not forgotten, not overlooked, and never unloved. The Lord sees you, knows you by name, and is already working in the details you can’t yet see. Let this time of prayer and reflection renew your hope and steady your heart for the day ahead.

Anchored by the Word

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NKJV)

Jesus doesn’t say, “Get it all together and then come.” He says, “Come to Me.” Right now. With the weight you’re carrying. With the questions that don’t have answers yet. With the anxiety that keeps you awake at night. In this verse, He promises rest—not just an afternoon nap, but deep soul-rest. This is the kind of peace no paycheck, no achievement, and no human approval can provide. When you come to Him in honest surrender, He doesn’t shame you for being weary; He welcomes you. Today, let this verse be your open door back into His presence, where real rest and renewal are waiting.

Living Hope in the Middle of Real Life

Life in the United States can move at a relentless pace—emails before sunrise, kids’ schedules, deadlines, news headlines that unsettle your heart. In the rush, it’s easy for faith to feel like one more task on a crowded to-do list. But following Jesus isn’t about adding religious pressure; it’s about learning to walk with Him through every moment of your ordinary day.

Today, invite the Lord into your commute, your coffee break, your meetings, your conversations, your worries. Whisper simple prayers throughout the day: “Lord, be with me here… give me wisdom… calm my heart.” Open your Bible, even if just for a few minutes, and let God’s truth reset your perspective. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you trust instead of panic, obey instead of compromise, and love instead of react in anger. Spiritual growth happens step by step, choice by choice, day by day—right where you live, work, and raise your family.

Strengthening Your Faith and Trust in God

Heavenly Father, I bring my faith to You today, just as it is—sometimes strong, sometimes shaky. Forgive me for the moments I’ve tried to handle life on my own, without seeking Your wisdom or resting in Your promises. Lord Jesus, deepen my trust in You. Help me to believe what You say more than what I feel, more than what I fear, and more than what the world shouts at me.

Holy Spirit, grow me in faith step by step. Teach me to turn to You first when I feel overwhelmed. Give me a hunger for Your Word so that truth replaces lies and hope replaces despair. When I walk through disappointment, remind me that You are still good. When doors close, help me to remember that You see a bigger picture. Today, I choose to place my confidence in Your character, not in my circumstances. Anchor my heart in the cross, where Your love for me was settled forever.

Covering Your Home and Relationships in Prayer

Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. You know every need, every wound, every unspoken fear. Bring Your peace into our home. Calm every storm of conflict, misunderstanding, and hurtful words. Teach us to listen well, to forgive quickly, and to extend the same grace to each other that You have poured out on us.

I pray for unity in our marriages, restoration in broken relationships, and healing where there has been betrayal or distance. Protect our children and grandchildren—guard their hearts, their minds, and their futures. Surround them with godly influences and keep them close to You. Let our home be a place where Your presence is felt, Your name is honored, and Your love is seen in the way we treat one another. Let Your peace reign within our walls.
