Lisa Harper Daily Devotional – October 12, 2026: Held in His Hands
If your heart feels a little tired today, you are not alone. Maybe you woke up with questions that don’t have easy answers, or worries that waited for you at the edge of your bed. As you read this, breathe in the simple, powerful truth: you are deeply loved, fully seen, and securely held by a gracious God. This devotional is an invitation to pause the noise, lean into His presence, and remember that your story is not over. The God who rescued you yesterday is the same God walking beside you today—kind, patient, and absolutely faithful.
Anchored in a Promise That Never Shifts
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV)
In a world that shifts under our feet—politics, culture, relationships, finances—this verse is like a steady hand on our shoulder. Jesus does not change. His character isn’t moody. His love isn’t seasonal. His mercy doesn’t have an expiration date. The same Jesus who welcomed broken, confused people in the Gospels is the Jesus who welcomes you this very moment. When your feelings are all over the map, this unchanging Christ becomes your anchor, your reference point, your safe place to land.
Walking Through Today With Quiet Courage
Knowing that Jesus never changes gives you permission to exhale. You don’t have to have it all together to be held together by Him. When anxiety whispers, “What if it all falls apart?” you can answer, “Even if it does, Jesus will still be who He says He is.”
So today, instead of rehearsing worst-case scenarios, rehearse His faithfulness. Speak out loud what you know: “God has carried me before; He will carry me again.” Choose one situation—maybe a bill, a strained relationship, or a medical report—and picture yourself handing it to Jesus. Then take a small step of obedience: make the phone call, send the email, apologize, rest, or simply worship. Spiritual growth often happens in those small, unseen yeses to God.
Drawing Near in Faith and Growing Deeper Roots
Father, in Jesus’ name, I come to You today choosing faith over fear. Strengthen my trust where I feel shaky. Remind me that You are not disappointed in my weakness but drawn to it with compassion. Grow deep roots in my heart so that when the winds of life blow, I won’t topple over.
Teach me to hear Your voice above the crowd of opinions around me. Stir up fresh hunger for Your Word. Help me to believe that Your plans for me are good, even when I cannot trace them. I place my dreams, my worries, my questions, and my future into Your hands. Shape my character, refine my motives, and make me more like Jesus—gentle, courageous, and full of grace.
Covering Our Homes With God’s Peace
Lord, I lift my family and loved ones to You. Wrap our homes in Your peace like a warm blanket. Heal places where words have wounded and where distance has grown. Restore what the enemy has tried to divide.
Give parents wisdom to guide their children with both truth and tenderness. Protect our marriages and friendships from bitterness, pride, and unforgiveness. Let our homes be places where Your name is honored, where laughter is welcome, and where weary hearts can find rest. Even when we don’t agree on everything, let us agree on this: we need You, Jesus, at the center of it all.
Health, Healing, and Holy Strength
Gracious Healer, I bring my body, mind, and emotions before You. You know every ache, every diagnosis, every private battle that doesn’t show on the outside. Stretch out Your healing hand over me and those I love. Guide doctors, counselors, and caregivers with supernatural wisdom.
Where there is pain, bring relief. Where there is fear, bring courage. Where there is exhaustion, breathe new strength. Guard my thoughts from spiraling into worst-case stories. Fill my inner life with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Whether healing comes slowly or suddenly, let me sense Your nearness in every step and remember that my life is ultimately hidden and secure in You.
Work, Finances, and the God Who Provides
Lord, You see my work, my responsibilities, and the weight of my financial concerns. I invite You into my schedule, my deadlines, and
