Don’t Let 11 Days Become 40 Years: Trust God Without Delay
Sometimes God is at work in our lives in ways we don’t even notice. Scripture reminds us that He often speaks with a still, small voice, and that once He begins a good work in us, He will finish it. He doesn’t leave His people half-formed — He keeps shaping us into the image of Jesus.
In Deuteronomy 1:2 we read: “It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by way of Mount Seir to Kadesh Barnea.” God brought Israel from Mount Sinai, where they received His law, toward the promised land — a journey that should have taken eleven days. Yet because of unbelief and rebellion, it took them forty years. Not in a paradise, but wandering in the wilderness.
That same danger exists for us. God calls us forward, but when we resist, insist on our own way, or refuse to trust Him, we turn days into decades of delay. What could be a short, direct path to His promises becomes a lifetime of circling in the desert.
Don’t let stubbornness rob you of blessing. You may be saved, but living outside of God’s will makes the journey miserable. The promised land is closer than you think — but only if you follow Him completely, without excuses, without delay.
Too often, we pray and then expect God to answer exactly as we imagine. When He doesn’t, we impose our will on His plan and miss the fullness of what He wants to give. Instead, we must surrender — truly and entirely — and obey Him verbatim.
God is calling His people to stop playing it safe, to live with holy abandon. Slam the brakes on self-reliance, scoot over, and let Him take the lead. Follow Him at full speed, heart and soul.
If we, as individuals and as nations, pursued God with that kind of passion before the end times unfold further, we could see revival sweep across the earth. There’s nothing in Scripture that says it can’t happen.
So today, pray with all your heart:
“Lord, I don’t want to wander anymore. I choose to walk with You step by step, not at a distance. Not my will, but Yours be done. Lead me, and make me a true disciple of Jesus. Take my burdens, my concerns, my stubborn heart, and transform me.”
Life is too short to spend forty years on an eleven-day journey. Trust Him today, and step into the promises He has already prepared for you.
