Jack Hibbs : The Choice, Is It Yours?

How Can We Pray For You? Have you signed up yet?

As Americans, we love choices. It’s deeply ingrained in us—a gift from God that reflects His design for humanity. We cherish freedom and the ability to decide what to eat, where to go, or how to spend our vacations. But what about the most important choice of all: salvation? Understanding what God’s Word says and how we believe in it is vital. This choice doesn’t just shape our understanding of God; it impacts how we experience His works in our lives.

We’re not passive spectators in this life. God created us with the unique ability to choose. From what we eat to the friends we make, these decisions reflect the sovereignty God entrusted to us. Yet, when it comes to eternal life, the choice is unlike any other. God’s invitation is an opportunity to know Him deeply, especially in these crucial final days.

Let’s dive into Romans chapter 3. Grab your Bible, a notepad, and a highlighter as we study God’s Word together. Remember, this choice—whether to accept God’s gift of salvation—is yours, and it’s the most important decision you’ll ever make.

Romans 3:21-24

“But now apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

This passage reveals how we are made right with God—not through our works or heritage, but through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is available to everyone who believes, regardless of background.

Galatians 3:26-29

“For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.”

Faith, not physical lineage, determines our place in God’s Kingdom. It’s not about being born into a Christian family or having Abraham’s DNA. Each of us must personally choose to follow Christ.

A True Story: The Necessity of Being Born Again

Once, I spoke at a Christian school assembly. Their doctrine emphasized being specially chosen by God, but I taught from John 3, where Jesus tells Nicodemus, “You must be born again to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.” Despite Nicodemus’ righteousness, even he needed a spiritual rebirth.

I challenged the students: your family’s faith won’t save you. Only your personal decision to follow Christ matters. Surprisingly, the principal cut my message short and escorted me out, but the truth remains—salvation is a personal choice.

The question is simple: Will you choose to accept God’s gift of salvation? It’s the most significant decision you’ll ever make, with eternal consequences. God bless you as you study His Word and draw closer to Him.
