As we discuss changing our mindset, let’s specifically explore your thoughts on money and finances, as they significantly impact many areas of life. I encourage you to stay engaged with this topic, as I believe God may reveal deeper insights into other aspects of your life. Financial issues are often the leading cause of stress and, unfortunately, divorce. The pressure that comes with finances can affect many other areas, including your health—since studies show that 89% of health problems are stress-related.

In Proverbs 23:7, we find that “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he,” emphasizing how your thoughts and feelings shape your reality. How you think, perceive, and feel about money ultimately determines how you act. This is a powerful principle—your mindset influences your actions.

In Romans 12:2 (Amplified), it says: “Do not be conformed to this world any longer, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” This transformation is key when it comes to finances. It’s not about tithes or offerings; it’s about understanding God’s covenant with you and aligning your mind with His will.

If you’ve ever worried about money or provision, you’re not alone. I recall a time when I felt overwhelmed by bills and said to God, “This is not my problem; it’s yours.” I was stressed, working multiple jobs—cleaning houses, delivering newspapers—and still not able to make ends meet. Yet, through it all, I learned to trust God, knowing He had called me, and He would provide.

The Bible has nearly 2,000 verses about money and possessions—more than prayer or faith combined. Jesus discussed finances in 16 out of 38 of His parables, demonstrating its importance. If Jesus focused so much on this topic, it’s clear that we need a renewed mindset when it comes to money.

The word of God offers valuable lessons on stewardship, prosperity, and giving. Yet, too often, we compartmentalize our lives, separating God from our finances. But God desires to be involved in every area of our lives. It’s not just about going to church on Sundays or praying briefly each morning—it’s about allowing God to guide your financial decisions and trusting Him with every aspect of your life.
