Tony Evans Daily Devotional – September 29, 2026: Trusting God in the Middle of the Story

If you could step back and see your whole life the way God sees it, the confusion you feel today would look very different. Right now, you may only see the middle of the story—unfinished chapters, unanswered prayers, and situations that don’t make sense. Yet your heavenly Father already holds the final pages, and He has not lost control. Today, as we reflect on God’s Word and seek Him in prayer, let this be a quiet reminder: you are seen, you are loved, and your story is not over. The same God who raised Jesus from the dead is writing hope into the details of your everyday life—right where you live, work, and wrestle with worry. Open your heart as we walk through this devotional together and invite the Lord to meet you right in the middle of your story.

Steady Hope in a Shaking World

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5–6 NASB)

This verse is more than a Christian bumper sticker—it is a daily invitation. God doesn’t ask you to pretend you understand everything; He asks you to shift your weight from your own limited insight onto His perfect wisdom. To “acknowledge Him” means to recognize His presence and authority in every area: your decisions, your relationships, your money, your health, your future. When you surrender your own way and lean into His, He straightens what seems crooked, clarifies what feels confusing, and leads you step by step, even when you can’t see the whole road ahead.

Walking by Faith When Feelings Waver

Faith is not the absence of questions; it is choosing God’s truth over your emotions. Some days you wake up with joy and passion. Other days you wake up with heaviness and doubt. Your feelings may shift like weather, but your foundation does not have to move. When anxiety rises about the economy, when tension fills your home, when you feel unnoticed at work, you can consciously decide, “Lord, I trust You more than I trust what I see and feel.”

Practically, this means pausing before reacting, whispering a short prayer before sending a text, opening your Bible before opening your social media, and giving thanks for small evidences of God’s care. Little choices shape a big life of faith. As you practice leaning on Him in the ordinary, you will find greater confidence in Him during the extraordinary storms.

Drawing Near for Deeper Faith

Father, today I ask You to deepen my faith beyond convenience and comfort. Teach me to trust You when the answer is “wait” or even “no.” Pull up the roots of fear that have grown from disappointment and delay. Replace them with a fierce confidence that You are good, even when I do not understand Your timing.

Grow my hunger for Your Word. Help me carve out space in my schedule to sit with You, listen to Your voice, and pour out my heart honestly. Remind me that spiritual growth is not about perfection but about daily surrender. Renew my mind so that my thoughts line up with Your truth, not with the lies of the enemy. Strengthen my will so I choose obedience over comfort. And when I stumble, draw me back quickly, wrapped in mercy, ready to start again, walking by faith and not by sight.

Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace

Lord, I bring my family and loved ones before You. You see every unspoken tension, every tear behind a closed door, every worry for children and grandchildren. I ask that Your peace would settle over our home like a gentle, steady blanket. Heal broken communication. Soften hardened hearts. Restore respect where words have wounded. Teach us to listen with humility and to speak with grace.

Protect our marriages, our parenting, and our friendships from the enemy’s schemes. Where there is distance, build bridges. Where there is loneliness, bring godly companionship. Let our homes be places where Your name is honored, where forgiveness is normal, and where love is strong enough to weather every season.
