The Little Boy Who Gave Jonathan Cahn a Car — A Powerful Lesson in Trusting God
Do not be afraid—the Lord is calling you to trust Him. When you give Him your burdens, He lightens your load. When you walk in His will and follow His leading, you will walk with wisdom greater than Solomon and strength beyond Samson—because it’s not by your might, but by the power of God.
A Prayer, a $100 Car, and a Divine Surprise
For years, I drove a car I bought for $100. It wasn’t much—it didn’t even have air conditioning—but it was an answer to prayer. I had asked God for a car, and I told Him it didn’t need to have AC. And sure enough, He provided exactly what I prayed for.
As time passed and ministry demands increased, others began praying that God would provide me with a better car—even my father, who rarely prayed out loud, was almost driven to prayer over it.
A Woman’s Gift and a Boy’s Prophetic Gesture
After one service, a woman approached me and said she wanted to give away her car. I wasn’t sure what to do—I told her we could talk later. But immediately after, a little boy in the congregation came right up to me and held out a small model car. It was white and looked just like the car the woman had described.
He wouldn’t leave until I took the toy car from his hands. When I finally accepted it, he smiled, then took it back and walked away. It turned out to be prophetic—the car the woman gave me ended up being the best car I’d had to that point.
God’s Wisdom Through the Unexpected
How could a child know that? He didn’t. But children have something many adults lose—trust. A baby trusts their father without understanding everything. That’s how we are to live with God. You’re not an orphan—you’re born again, and you have a Heavenly Father.
My own earthly father, when he was a little boy in Germany, would sometimes embarrass his dad by going to strangers at restaurants and begging for food he thought looked better. But your Heavenly Father doesn’t want you begging. He wants you to trust Him. His plan for you is good, and He is leading you—even when you don’t realize it.
Live a Spirit-Led Life, Not a Driven Life
God doesn’t want you to live a life that’s driven by fear or pressure. He wants you to be led by His Spirit. That means you don’t have to know it all—you just have to be open to His voice.
I know of believers who were led not to board a plane—and later, that very plane crashed. Others woke up in the night, not knowing why, and began praying for someone who turned out to be in danger. The steps of a righteous person are ordered by the Lord.
You have no idea how many disasters you’ve been spared from—how many accidents, tragedies, or dangers passed you by—simply because you were following God’s leading.
