The Key to unlock God’s Power in Your life | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
Do you long to see real transformation in your life through God’s power? Ever wondered why some Christians seem to walk in bold authority, while others feel powerless? Understanding how to truly unlock God’s authority can revolutionize the way you live and interact with the world. Today, we’re diving deep into biblical truths about spiritual authority, standing strong in faith despite cultural resistance, and embracing your mission as a follower of Jesus.
Authority in God’s Kingdom: What Does It Really Mean?
Imagine an army. The general holds the highest authority, while the private has the least—unless the general gives him a direct assignment. In that moment, the private acts with the full authority of the general. This analogy, drawn from Scripture, perfectly illustrates how you, as a Christian, experience God’s authority.
When you choose to walk in God’s will, your actions carry the authority of the King of Kings. Rather than relying on your own power, you become a vessel for God’s purpose, equipped to impact eternity. But how do you unlock and exercise this authority in your daily life?
The Rising Spiritual Battle in Our Culture
It’s no secret that religious freedom is under unprecedented attack. Laws are tightening, voices of faith are being silenced online, and some believers are being forced to compromise biblical convictions or face real world consequences—whether that’s in schools, the workplace, or even Christian publishing. In some states, legislation has come dangerously close to banning the sale of Bibles or severely restricting Christian education.
You might feel powerless when facing these mounting challenges. But history—and Scripture—show us a different reality. When early believers were told what they could and couldn’t share, or even forbidden from preaching the Gospel, they made a clear choice: “If it’s between obeying God or man, we obey God.” That same boldness is needed today.
The Source of Your Authority: A Divine Commission
Let’s turn to the example set by Jesus. In Matthew 10, Jesus gathered His twelve disciples—ordinary men, untrained in seminaries or equipped with theological degrees. He simply called them, empowered them, and sent them out with instructions:
“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.”
Notice that Jesus didn’t wait for them to feel ready or qualified. He called them as they were, promising that authority and power would follow their obedience. That’s how the Lord works. He rarely waits for us to feel prepared; when you step out in faith, you’ll discover resources, favor, and miraculous opportunities that you would never have seen from the safety of your comfort zone.
Learning Through Obedience
Serving God is not about having all the answers or never making mistakes. Rather, it’s about a willingness to step out—even when you feel unqualified. As you do, God meets you, teaches you, and equips you along the way. Growth in the Kingdom is a journey made step-by-step, and most of the learning happens simply as you walk it out with God.
Unlocking Spiritual Power: The Great Commission
When Jesus gave the Great Commission—“Go therefore into all the world and make disciples”—He prefaced it by declaring, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go.”
This is more than a global missions mandate; it’s a lifestyle. Whether you travel abroad, walk into a grocery store, visit family, or simply interact with your neighbors, you carry the authority of Jesus to impact lives. The “mission field” is planet Earth, and every believer, regardless of vocation, is a missionary on assignment.
Everyday Encounters: Stories of Divine Opportunity
Everyday settings can become sacred appointments. Maybe it’s a conversation with a store clerk, a co-worker, or someone you meet by chance. God can use such moments for His glory. One powerful story involves an encounter at a shoe store; a simple act of sharing a card led to someone coming to faith and finding their spiritual family.
Opportunities for ministry aren’t reserved for church platforms or foreign fields. They’re woven into daily life. Each step of faith—no matter how small—can open unexpected doors. The key is to be intentional and attentive to what God may be prompting you to do as you go about your normal routine.
Recognizing Your Role: You Are a Minister
Many believers limit themselves, thinking that ministry or spiritual authority is reserved for pastors or “super-Christians.” The truth is, if you are born again, you are a minister in God’s eyes. There are no spectators in the family of God—only participants.
The will of God is that you serve. The perfect will of God includes every believer joining in the Great Commission: sharing the Gospel, blessing others, bringing healing, giving generously. Wherever you go, your mission field is there. Even if it feels intimidating or uncomfortable at first, your willingness to serve activates spiritual authority and blessing in your life.
The Power of Testimony
You don’t need to be a polished preacher or expert theologian. Sharing your testimony is enough. Just as in court, a witness simply shares what they’ve seen or experienced. As a believer, you are a witness to what Jesus has done in your life—share that! The world today, hungry for truth, may need your simple story more than you realize.
Walking in Victory Amid Spiritual Opposition
In a world growing increasingly hostile to faith, it’s easy to focus on darkness or feel threatened. But remember, the enemy is not your focus—Jesus is. The early church faced immense trials, yet they did not lose sight of the authority and victory granted to them by the Messiah. Paul, despite facing prison and persecution, left an impact greater than that of any ruler of his day.
