The Jeremiah Promise For Your Life | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
The Promise of God’s Voice in Your Darkest Hour | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
The Word of God cannot be chained. It entered Jeremiah’s prison cell, just as it reached Paul and Peter when they were imprisoned. No wall, no darkness, no circumstance can silence the voice of God. Even when you feel trapped, abandoned, or cut off—especially then—God speaks.
I remember when I began in ministry, in the days of small beginnings, the Lord gave me a word that would shape everything. It was the same word He gave to Jeremiah:
“Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will show you great and mighty things which you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).
This was not spoken on a mountaintop but in a prison. Jeremiah was locked away because he dared to proclaim God’s truth to a people who did not want to hear it. He preached against sin, warned of judgment, and was rejected. Lonely, confined, discouraged—yet there in that place, God’s voice broke through: Call to Me.
God was reminding Jeremiah—and us—that He is still on the throne. Not the king. Not the problem. Not the prison. God is in charge, and He invites us: Call to Me.
In Hebrew, “call” means more than a whisper. It is to cry out from the depths of your heart, to invite God into the very places you’ve shut Him out. It means to boldly encounter Him. Just as Messiah will only return when invited, He enters our lives when we open the door. How much of your life could change simply by inviting Him in again?
And God promises: “I will answer you.” This doesn’t mean a simple response to your request. In Hebrew, the word also means, “I will respond, I will turn My eyes toward you.” Like a loving Father bending to hear His child, God promises His presence, His attention, and His care. Even beyond what you ask, He will respond with what He knows you truly need.
But the promise goes further: “I will show you great and mighty things you do not know.”
“Great” in Hebrew means more, higher, exceeding—God wants to take you further than you have ever gone.
“Mighty” means things once inaccessible, fortified, out of reach. God says He will reveal what has been withheld, break strongholds, and open doors that seemed impossible.
There are things you’ve prayed for that seemed delayed, blessings you thought were out of reach, victories that felt too high. God declares He will reveal them in His time. He will manifest the unreachable.
But there is a condition—you must seek Him. Not casually, not half-heartedly, but with all your heart. God’s promises are not detached from His will. If you live outside His will, you cannot expect His blessing. But if you truly seek Him, invite Him, and align your life with His purposes, you will see His hand move in ways beyond imagination.
This year, make the choice: Call to Him. Invite Him. Seek what you do not yet know. And you will discover that God is ready to show you not just good things, but great and mighty things—things that will exceed, surpass, and transform your life.
