The Gift of Boldness | Jonathan Cahn Sermon
The Gift of Boldness
“And America has done much good. And there’s no shortage of nations far exceeding any of its faults or sins. But no nation in the modern world has ever been given so much. None has been so blessed. To whom much is given, much is required. If a nation so blessed by God should turn away from Him, what then? It’s blessing will be replaced with curses? Yes. And has America turned away from God? I asked. It has turned and is turning. How? In the same way Israel turned. It started with a spiritual complacency, then spiritual confusion, then the merging of God with idols and then, ultimately, the rejection of his ways. Just as with ancient Israel, America began ruling God out of its life, turning, step by step, against His ways, at first subtly and then more and more brazenly.”
― Jonathan Cahn, The Harbinger
What did it do? What did it how did it change them?
On the day of pentecost, it says this happened.
The spirit came, and then it says in acts four, It says then Peter filled with the spirit, the Holy Spirit, said to them, the multitudes rulers, and elders of the people.
If we are being called to account for, uh, actually, uh, in the in the in the, uh, the outworking of from the day of pentecost onward, Peter rises up.
He says, if we are calling us to account for a a kindness shown to a man who was lame who got healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel, it is by the name of yeshua Messiah of Nazareth.
Okay. Now it’s striking because this is the same guy who denied he even knew him a little while back.
What happened? What happened? The spirit happened.
The effect of the spirit in on Peter was not that he acted strange, not that he but he had now boldness that he did not have.
Boldness. One of the key manifestations of the spirit is boldness, not you bold for yourself, but bold for god.
So you might be saying, uh, I’m not bold. You know, but it’s not about being bold.
Doesn’t matter if you’re bold. Naturally, it’s about the power of the spirit, that makes the weak strong.
Now that, you know, becoming bold, you know, you know, Paul didn’t say he was bold.
He said, pray that god would give me boldness.
The good news is that the spirit of god give makes people bold in the things of god.
Boldness comes on god. Everybody deals with fear.
So did the great people of god and so did he so do you. Abraham had fear. Moses had fear.
David had fear. Elijah had fear. Elijah had fear. Paul had fear.
But what happened in each case is the spirit of god came on them. How did David face the giant?
With such confidence against all odds even to run to him by the spirit of god.
The I can do all things.
It enabled him to do what he could never have done before or by himself.
How did Elijah face Ahab and Chesabel a whole nation, the prophets of baal, hundreds of them by the spirit of god giving him courage.
He never would have. Now without the spirit, he didn’t have courage. With the spirit, he did.
The spirit of god will give you courage, even if you’re a if you you’re filled with anxiety, the spirit will give you courage.
To stand against the bully the the enemy in your life, meaning the enemy, not people, to rise up against the problem, not be overwhelmed anymore, stop some instead of being overcome to overcome.
The spirit of god is the spirit of overcoming to give you a courage. What are you afraid of?
What do you have anxiety? What are you worried about? The spirit?
You gotta you have to say, lord, I I need you’re a spirit because the spirit is more powerful than the problem.
And it’ll get and it will overcome the weight of that which is against you.
Whatever you’re dealing with, pray, lord, I need the, I need your spirit.
I need to empower you know, we were told a situation was impossible, uh, for us many times, you know, uh, of impossible situations, and and and yet we saw the power of god do it.
The the power of god is to do the impossible. The spirit is the power of I you can.
It can. Now when you say something’s impossible, you’re saying it can’t be done, but the spirit is the power of can be done So even impossible things the spirit can do in your life.
So when you take the impossible on one hand, you take the power of the spirit on the other, the spirit wins if it’s the will of god.
So lord, give me the power in this. Lord, this is impossible. Give me the power of the impossible.
