The Coming of a False Peace (Revelation 6:1–2)
The Coming of a False Peace (Revelation 6:1–2)
With great joy, I return this morning to the Book of Revelation. It has been quite a while since we completed Chapter 5, but now we begin Chapter 6, a significant section of Scripture. Please open your Bible to Revelation 6. As you remember, the Book of Revelation is chronological. Chapters 1-3 focus on Christ’s movement within His church on Earth. In Chapters 4 and 5, the church is depicted in heaven, symbolized by the 24 Elders, indicating that by this point, the church has been raptured and is in the presence of saints and angels around God’s throne.
Then, in Chapter 6, the scene returns to Earth, specifically the period known as the Tribulation, the final phase of human history. Here, the Seal judgments are introduced. In the Roman era, wills were sealed and could only be opened by someone with the authority to do so. Christ, having taken the title deed to the universe from the Father’s throne, is now the rightful heir and will open these seals to reclaim what is His, as described in Psalm 2. Each seal represents an action He takes to restore His kingdom.
The first seal, seen in the first two verses of Chapter 6, sets the stage for the end times: “Then I saw when the Lamb broke one of the seven seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures (angels, as we learned in Chapters 4 and 5) saying with a voice like thunder, ‘Come.’ And I looked, and behold, a white horse, and he who sat on it had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering and to conquer.”
This marks the beginning of the end, following the removal of the church. The rider on the white horse signifies world peace. The white horse, typically ridden by a conqueror, indicates conquest, but with a bow and no arrows, symbolizing peace achieved without war. The rider is given a crown, signifying that he is granted authority by the world.
The next major event after the church is removed will be the opening of the seals. The world will first experience peace, but it will not last. In verse 4, we read, “Peace was taken from the earth,” followed by slaughter, famine, and death. While world peace will initially emerge, it will quickly be replaced by chaos.
The concept of world peace is not new. Many have long desired global unity, with some even speculating about a one-world government. In reality, there are powerful forces pushing toward this goal. Globalists, those in control of societal and cultural power, are striving for a one-world government. They claim motivations such as equity (the redistribution of wealth and assets worldwide) and a unified global currency, particularly cryptocurrency, which would allow them to control financial systems globally.
As we approach the return of Christ, we see the beginnings of these global movements—setting the stage for the fulfillment of Revelation’s prophecy.
