The Blessings and Curses of America’s Relationship with God ― Jonathan Cahn, The Harbinger
The Blessings and Curses of America's Relationship with God
“And America has done much good. And there’s no shortage of nations far exceeding any of its faults or sins. But no nation in the modern world has ever been given so much. None has been so blessed. To whom much is given, much is required. If a nation so blessed by God should turn away from Him, what then? It’s blessing will be replaced with curses? Yes. And has America turned away from God? I asked. It has turned and is turning. How? In the same way Israel turned. It started with a spiritual complacency, then spiritual confusion, then the merging of God with idols and then, ultimately, the rejection of his ways. Just as with ancient Israel, America began ruling God out of its life, turning, step by step, against His ways, at first subtly and then more and more brazenly.” ― Jonathan Cahn, The Harbinger
The Blessings and Curses of America’s Relationship with God
As a nation, America has been blessed with a wealth of resources, freedoms, and opportunities. From its early founding, the United States has stood as a beacon of hope and democracy, leading the way in innovations, advancements, and progress. However, with such blessings come great responsibilities. As the saying goes, “To whom much is given, much is required.”
As a nation, we have been given much. But have we fulfilled our responsibilities to God and to one another? Unfortunately, it seems that in recent years, America has turned away from the values and principles that once made it great. We have become complacent, spiritually confused, and have rejected the ways of God.
This turning away from God has manifested itself in a variety of ways. We have seen a growing tolerance for everything opposed to God, a tolerance for immorality and a growing intolerance for purity. Innocence is ridiculated and virtue is vilified. Children are taught about sexual immorality in public schools, while the Word of God is banned. Nativity scenes are removed from public sight, as if they have become a threat.
But perhaps the most tragic example of America turning away from God is the legalization of abortion. Just 10 years after removing prayer and scripture from public schools, the nation legalized the killing of its unborn. This is a horrific and barbaric act, one that goes against the very principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness that our nation was founded upon.
It is clear that America has turned away from God and His ways. But there is still hope. We can turn back towards Him, seeking His guidance and His wisdom. We can return to the values and principles that once made our nation great. We can choose to be a nation that is blessed by God, rather than one that is cursed.
This will not be an easy task, but it is a necessary one. We must be willing to make difficult decisions, to speak out against injustice and immorality, and to stand firm in our faith. We must be willing to take a stand for what is right, even when it is unpopular or difficult.
It is time for America to turn back towards God and His ways. It is time for us to fulfill the responsibilities that come with the blessings we have been given. It is time for us to be a nation that is truly blessed by God.
