Praises in the Dungeon

Paul and Silas are beaten repeatedly with rods thrown into jail into the inner mostly.
So it’s dark. Dark, dismal,
you wanna do god’s will, you gotta be willing to pay a price, but it’s worth it.
It is glorious. You got one life. Go for the best. Embrace it. Embrace the pride. Embrace it.
Embrace the honor of standing up for god even when everyone is against you. Embrace it.
You know, we think also, like, these people were innocent, totally innocent, Paul. It’s not innocent.
So think about your life. What about you? Sometimes, you know, we complain.
You know, it’s unfair. I didn’t get this. This person got this. I didn’t get this.
They did this to me. It’s unfair. Well, imagine
you were them. You’re thrown in jail, beaten and thrown in jail. Lost everything in jail innocently.
Others turned them in, took away all their possessions, and they’re not complaining.
That should tell us something. So what are we gonna complain about?
What are you gonna complain about?
Nothing compared to this and nothing compared to what Messiah did for you to save you from judgment.
The jailer, he’s outside, you often would be retired army veterans, It says he put them into the inner chamber, which was often a place of torture, put their feet in stock and chain, they’re chained to the to the to the prison.
They can’t move. And so here they are, and they’re actually Paul’s a Roman citizen.
And it’s actually illegal to do what they did under Rome.
Interesting because later on, Paul actually actually refers to this. He says in 2nd Corinthians, he says this.
He says I have been in far more labors far more imprisonments, beaten times without number, often in danger of death, 5 times I received from the Jewish people, 39 lashes. 3 times I was beaten with rods.
That’s right here. Right here. He and that’s not he’s got much more. But here he is.
Now the natural reaction, imagine this was us, you know, and we are here.
What, you know, you you might be depressed. You might be upset. You might be confused.
You might be why am I here in this white lord. Why’d you allow this?
I’m here serving you and you allow me here. But this is what happened.
They did something else. 1st 25.
At midnight, Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to god.

Praise him in the storm. Praise him. No matter here they are in the darkest place.
I believe the lord is. This is God speaking, he’s confirming it, to you, what do they do?
They start seeing. Richard, we’re said, when they were in communist prisons, he said, he came here.
I remember the first night, he said, they were so nice.
The communists were so nice to us when they when they put us in prison.
They gave us all musical instruments to worship, and everybody was like, oh, wow.
So, yeah, they gave us chains, but we use them to worship god. Hi.
