Let’s dive into Nehemiah Chapter 4 and reflect on its significance. This message applies both to our personal lives and, from a corporate perspective, to the body of Christ. I’ve called upon everyone to join in prayer and fasting, and the urgency is growing in my heart. When I got to Nehemiah Chapter 4, I saw how the enemy intensified their attack. I want to share some insights, but this will be a two or three-part series, so I may not get into everything today.

In Nehemiah Chapter 2, we see the enemy’s first appearance. Let’s look at that briefly before we get to Chapter 4. Have you ever prayed for every demonic network to scatter? It’s essential to understand the spiritual battle we face. For instance, I’ve marked my Bible and often turn to it as a reference in these moments of spiritual warfare. By the time we reach Nehemiah Chapter 4, you’ll see the enemy’s strategy clearly, and we can apply these lessons to our lives.

In Chapter 4, we encounter new enemies—Samballot, Tobiah, the Arabians, Ammonites, and Ashdodites—who are furious when they learn that the walls of Jerusalem are being rebuilt. What triggered this attack? The enemy’s anger was already present in Chapter 2. They conspired to fight against Jerusalem and hinder the work. This is why, when we pray against demonic conspiracies and networks, we’re addressing the same kind of opposition. The enemy’s forces are often united in their schemes against the people of God.

An important point to note: The wall is half-built by this time. Why does the enemy attack when the work is halfway done? Because that’s when we’re most vulnerable—when the progress is in motion but the task isn’t complete. The enemy knows that when we’re in the middle of the process, fatigue and discouragement can set in. This is why we need to stay alert and spiritually resilient. The enemy is skilled at timing his attacks, sometimes better than we realize.

As the battle intensifies, Nehemiah and the people of God respond with even greater prayer and fasting. They didn’t back down when the pressure mounted. This is a crucial lesson for us: The more intense the battle, the more we need to press in with prayer and fasting. We’re seeing people praying and fasting every day, and if you’re watching online and want to join us, don’t hesitate to reach out. God is still calling us to this deeper level of commitment.

Speaking of commitment, I want to share a personal story. John, who loves his food, committed to a three-day fast. As someone who enjoys his meals, that’s a big deal for him! This was a powerful reminder that when God calls us to fast, it’s a serious move in the spiritual realm.

Now, let’s look at the world around us. Statistics show that during COVID, the divorce rate increased by 32-35%. The suicide rate has risen drastically, with over a million people expected to take their lives this year alone. Many are struggling with anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. We have so much to be grateful for, but we must also acknowledge the deep distress that others are facing. People are grappling with economic hardships, health issues, and a sense of fear about the future.

In the midst of this, we are reminded of the power of prayer and fasting. As we press in, let’s continue to lift each other up and seek God’s guidance in this challenging time.
