Michael Todd Daily Devotional – October 07, 2026

Right where you are—maybe with coffee in hand, on your lunch break, or winding down at the end of a long day—God sees you. He sees the questions you don’t know how to ask and the weight you can’t quite explain. Today’s devotional is an invitation to breathe again, to remember that you are not holding your life together by yourself. Your Father is closer than the tension in your shoulders and kinder than the thoughts in your head. As you read and pray through this, open your heart to the possibility that God wants to meet you in the middle of your real life, not the cleaned-up version you wish you could present on Sundays.

Anchored in God’s Unshakable Promise

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV) In a world that seems to change by the minute, this verse steadies us like an anchor dropped into deep, unmoving bedrock. The economy shifts, relationships evolve, bodies age, emotions rise and fall—but Jesus does not change. The same Savior who healed the broken, lifted the ashamed, calmed the storm, and forgave the guilty is the One standing with you today. This means His love does not fluctuate with your mood, His purpose for you does not disappear when you feel lost, and His grace is not fragile or temporary. When you feel like the ground is moving under your feet, Hebrews 13:8 reminds you that your foundation is a Person who will never move.

Living Steady in an Unsteady World

Because Jesus is constant, you do not have to be controlled by what you see on the news, in your bank account, or in your own mirror. You can choose to live from a place of trust instead of panic. Today, you might face decisions at work, tension at home, or internal battles no one else sees. Instead of rehearsing every worst-case scenario, pause and ask, “What does the unchanging Jesus say about this?” Maybe you need to forgive again. Maybe you need to step out in faith on an opportunity that scares you. Maybe you simply need rest. The Holy Spirit is ready to guide you, not in vague religious terms, but in real, practical wisdom. As you go through your day, whisper short prayers: “Lord, lead me,” “Jesus, steady my heart,” “Father, I trust You here.” Those small moments of surrender begin to shape an entirely different kind of life—one marked by peace, even in the storm.

Drawing Near in Faith and Surrender

Father, thank You that faith is not about me trying to impress You, but about me trusting who You already are. Today I lay down the pressure to have everything figured out. I bring You my doubts, my disappointments, and the places where hope feels thin. Teach me to lean into You, not just when things fall apart, but in the ordinary moments of my routine. Grow my faith so that I respond to challenges with prayer before panic, worship before worry, and trust before trying to control everything. Holy Spirit, reshape the way I think and speak so that my life reflects confidence in Your goodness. Strengthen my desire to read Your Word, to listen for Your voice, and to obey quickly when You lead. Help me remember that spiritual growth is not about perfection, but about progress with You—one faithful step at a time.

Covering Our Homes with God’s Peace

Lord, I bring my family and loved ones before You. You know every story, every wound, every unspoken need. I ask You to bring peace into our conversations and healing into our history. Where there is distance, draw us closer. Where there is misunderstanding, give us the courage to listen and the humility to apologize. Surround my home—no matter its size or situation—with Your presence. Let it be a place of safety, laughter, and honest connection. Cover marriages with unity and tenderness. Guard children and grandchildren with Your wisdom and protection. For those who feel alone or far from family, surround them with spiritual family who love them well. Let forgiveness, patience, and kindness become the language of our households.

Strength for Our Bodies and Souls

Heavenly Father, You see every ache, diagnosis, and unspoken fear hidden in our bodies and minds. I ask that You stretch out Your healing hand over me and those I love. Strengthen immune systems, restore energy, correct what is out of order, and bring relief where there has been long-term pain. Calm
