Alistair Begg Daily Devotional May 31, 2026
This new day has arrived with its own mix of hopes and worries. Maybe you woke up with a burden on your heart, or maybe you feel distant from God and unsure where you fit in His plans. Wherever you are this morning, God has not changed. His love is steady, His promises are sure, and His grace is enough for every situation you face. Today’s devotional invites you to pause, breathe, and remember that your life is held in the hands of a faithful Father who sees you, knows you, and cares for you more deeply than you can imagine.
Anchored in a Promise That Does Not Move
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV) This verse stands like a lighthouse in a restless world. Everything around us shifts—our health, our income, our relationships, even our emotions. But Jesus does not change. The same Savior who forgave Peter’s failure, calmed raging storms, and welcomed broken sinners is the One who walks with you today. His character does not age, weaken, or fade. When fear whispers that you are alone, this verse answers firmly: the Lord who carried you in the past will carry you now and in the days to come.
Living Steady in an Unsteady World
Because Christ is unchanging, you can walk through today with quiet confidence. That does not mean you will feel strong every moment, but it does mean you are never without help. When anxious thoughts start circling, speak this truth out loud: “Jesus, You are the same today. You are with me.” When you go to work, care for your family, pay bills, or sit in a waiting room, you are not left to figure it all out alone. Build small habits that keep your heart turned toward Him—whisper short prayers, memorize a verse, listen to Scripture or Christ-centered teaching on your commute. Little by little, your reflex will become trust rather than panic. Growth in Christ often looks ordinary, but it is deeply powerful.
Drawing Near in Faith and Spiritual Hunger
Father, increase our faith today. Where we doubt Your goodness, uncover the lies we have believed and replace them with Your Word. Where our hearts have grown cold, breathe fresh fire by Your Spirit. Teach us to trust You when we do not understand Your timing or Your ways. Help us to walk humbly, to repent quickly, and to rejoice often. May we desire You more than comfort, success, or approval. Lead us into deeper obedience, not out of fear, but out of love for the One who first loved us. Strengthen our faith so that we cling to Christ as our sure foundation, knowing that when we are weak, He remains strong and faithful.
Grace for Our Homes and Relationships
Lord, we place our families and relationships before You. You see every tension, every unspoken hurt, every longing for reconciliation. Bring peace into our homes. Heal marriages marked by misunderstanding or distance. Give parents patience and gentleness as they guide their children, and give children hearts that respond with respect and love. For singles, widows, and those who feel alone, surround them with genuine Christian community. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us. May kindness, honesty, and grace shape every conversation. Make our homes reflections of Your kingdom—places where Your name is honored, Your Word is treasured, and Your love is felt.
Strength for Body, Mind, and Soul
Heavenly Father, we bring our health to You—our aches, diagnoses, fears, and unknowns. For those battling illness, chronic pain, or emotional exhaustion, stretch out Your healing hand. Guide doctors, counselors, and caregivers with wisdom and compassion. Calm anxious minds and restless hearts. Replace despair with steady hope. Help us care for our bodies as Your temples, with wisdom and balance. When full healing does not come as quickly as we long for, hold us close and remind us that nothing can separate us from Your love in Christ. Let Your presence bring a peace that medicine cannot supply and a strength that carries us through the hardest days.
Provision in Work, Finances, and Daily Needs
Lord, You know every bill on the table, every job pressure, every unanswered email, every closed door. We confess our tendency to worry instead of trust. Today we choose to place our work and finances in Your hands. Open doors of opportunity that no one can shut. Provide steady employment for those searching
