Lisa Harper – Daily Devotional for October 22, 2026
If your heart feels a little tired today, you are not alone. Maybe the weight of unanswered prayers, lingering worries, or quiet disappointments has settled on your shoulders. As you read this, imagine the Lord gently lifting your chin, looking you in the eyes, and whispering, “I see you. I know. I’m not going anywhere.” Today’s devotional is an invitation to breathe again, to lean into the steady love of God, and to remember that your story is being held by nail-scarred hands that will never let you go.
Anchored by a Promise
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, ESV) In a world that seems to change by the hour—from breaking news to shifting relationships—this verse is a firm anchor. The Jesus who calmed storms, healed the broken, and welcomed the outcasts is the same Jesus walking with you today in 2026. He has not grown weary of your prayers, and He has not changed His mind about loving you. This unchanging nature of Christ means His mercy doesn’t expire, His grace doesn’t thin out, and His power is not diminished by your circumstances. When everything feels unstable, you can plant both feet on this truth: Jesus is constant, reliable, and faithfully present right now.
Living Steady in an Unsteady World
It’s easy to feel like life is one long juggling act—work emails, family schedules, medical appointments, bills, and the quiet fears you don’t say out loud. Spiritual growth doesn’t mean you stop feeling pressure; it means you learn where to take it. Today, ask yourself: “Where am I carrying what I could be casting?” Scripture invites us to cast our cares on Him because He cares for us. That looks like pausing before you react, whispering “Help me, Jesus” before you respond, and choosing to worship when you’d rather worry. Try one small practice today: when anxiety spikes, lay your hand over your heart and say, “Lord, You are with me right here. I trust You with this moment.” Over time, those small acts of trust reshape your inner world, teaching your soul to lean in instead of spin out.
Prayer for Faith and Deeper Trust
Lord Jesus, thank You that You are unchanging even when my emotions rise and fall. Grow my faith today. Pull my roots deeper into Your love so that I am not shaken by headlines, opinions, or pressures. Teach me to trust Your timing when I feel rushed, and Your wisdom when I don’t understand. Strengthen my spirit so I can say “yes” to You even when it is costly or inconvenient. Help me love Your Word, listen for Your voice, and obey quickly. I surrender my doubts, my questions, and my fears to You. Make my heart soft toward Your leading and bold in believing what You have promised. Amen.
Prayer for Family and Home
Father God, I lift my family and loved ones before You. You see every tension, every unspoken hurt, every need under our roof. Bring Your peace into our home like a fresh breeze through open windows. Heal broken communication, soften hard hearts, and teach us to speak life over one another. Protect our children, grandchildren, and all those we love—guard their minds, their bodies, and their futures. Where there is distance, bring reconciliation. Where there is loneliness, bring companionship. Let our home be a place where Your presence is felt, where forgiveness is practiced, and where grace is the language we choose. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Health and Inner Wholeness
Lord, You are the healer of body, mind, and soul. I bring my health before You—the aches, the diagnoses, the fatigue, the anxiety I sometimes carry in my chest. Lay Your healing hand on every place of pain. Give wisdom to doctors, nurses, and caregivers. Strengthen my immune system, restore my energy, and regulate what is out of balance. Calm racing thoughts, lift depression, quiet fear, and replace it with Your peace that passes understanding. Teach me to care for this body as Your temple—with rest, nourishment, and healthy boundaries. Let Your joy be my strength today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Prayer for Work, Finances, and Provision
Faithful Father, You know every financial pressure, every bill, every looming deadline. You see the stress I sometimes carry about my
