Judge Everything Against The Bible
Judge Everything Against The Bible
When was the last time you heard the phrase, “Judge everything”? Let me explain it in full detail: judge everything according to the Scriptures. Many times, Christians feel conflicted or upset by the concept of judging or passing judgment. And that reaction is understandable because the Bible does teach that judgment ultimately belongs to God. It’s His sovereign domain. However, the same Bible also instructs believers to judge all things and hold fast to what is true.
Friends, the most important thing you and I can do in life is to judge everything we hear, see, or experience through the lens of God’s Word. The truth found in the Bible is our foundation, and without it, we risk being led astray. We live in a world where deception is more prevalent than ever before. That’s why it is essential to filter everything through the Scriptures.
As we begin this study today, I encourage you to keep this in mind: we’re not just reading the Bible; the Bible is also reading us. It’s a living Word that speaks directly to our hearts and souls. So, take a moment to grab your Bible and join me as we dive into Romans, chapter 9. Let God’s Word prepare your heart and mind so you can discern the world around you with wisdom and truth.
Let’s start by reflecting on Psalm 100:5, which says, “For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations.” What a powerful reminder! The goodness and mercy of God are timeless, extending to all who seek Him.
Psalm 25:8 reinforces this message: “Good and upright is the Lord; therefore, He teaches sinners the way.” Yes, God desires to guide sinners back to the right path. His love and mercy are not exclusive to a select few; they are available to everyone willing to turn to Him.
Unfortunately, some people perceive God as a harsh judge who predestines some to heaven and others to hell without choice or opportunity. But that idea contradicts the very nature of the God revealed in the Bible. God’s heart is for salvation. His argument to humanity is simple: “I want this sinner saved.”
Psalm 34:8 invites us to experience God’s goodness personally: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who trusts in Him.” This isn’t a casual invitation—it’s a profound challenge to your soul. The psalmist isn’t saying, “I hope you like it.” Instead, he’s inviting you to experience the life-transforming goodness of God firsthand.
When God speaks, His truth awakens the soul. His Word resonates deep within us, revealing that He knows us, loves us, and has a divine purpose for our lives. If you feel unloved or hopeless, hear this message: God is calling you to taste and see that He is good. He wants to meet you personally, transform your life, and bring you peace.
Let’s take a closer look at Psalm 34:1-8:
- “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
- “My soul shall boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear of it and be glad.”
- “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.”
- “I sought the Lord, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears.”
These verses remind us that God’s name, Yahweh, appears repeatedly throughout Scripture. The psalmist emphasizes this divine name, inviting us to glorify and trust in Yahweh together.
Verse 4 is particularly relevant in today’s world of uncertainty: “I sought the Lord, and He heard me and delivered me from all my fears.” When fear takes hold—whether it’s fear of disease, war, or chaos—we must fix our eyes on God. He promises deliverance from fear for those who seek Him.
Psalm 34 continues with more encouragement:
- “They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed.”
- “This poor man cried out, and the Lord heard him and saved him from all his troubles.”
- “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him and delivers them.”
Finally, Psalm 34:8 declares: “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him.” This truth brings hope to the weary soul. God invites us to trust Him, to experience His goodness, and to walk in His light.
Say Amen to that! Now, grab your Bible, open your heart, and let’s journey together in faith. Judge everything according to God’s Word, and let His truth guide you in every aspect of life.
