Jonathan Cahn’s Message On The National Mall on Yom Kippur 2024 | Jonathan Cahn Special
In the mid-20th century, America began to distance itself from God, and as it did, other spirits started to take their place, both in America and around the world. By removing God from our schools and children’s lives, we opened the door for other spiritual influences. This gathering today may be the largest Yom Kippur event in history, with brothers and sisters from Africa, Asia, Europe, and India joining us as one.
About eight years ago, after President Trump’s inauguration, there was a women’s gathering here. However, that was not a gathering of the Lord. What we are witnessing today is an answer to that event. Before this holy gathering concludes, we will do something unprecedented, something that hasn’t been done in thousands of years, preparing us for what is to come.
Let me share a mystery with you: On Yom Kippur, the sins of the land are exposed, confessed, and lifted to God. The high priest confesses his own sins as well as the sins of the people. We will be doing that shortly. Afterward, the evil and darkness that plague the land will be cast out, just as it was done in ancient times.
I’ve been asked to expose the darkness that inhabits our culture. Two thousand years ago, the Messiah shared a parable about a man who was delivered from a demonic spirit. However, because he left himself open, that spirit returned with seven others, leaving him in a worse condition than before. This is a warning for any civilization or nation that has known God but turns away from Him. If a nation empties itself of God’s presence, it will not remain empty—what was cast out will return, and it will be worse than before.
In the mid-20th century, as America began emptying itself of God, other spirits entered the land. When Israel turned away from God, they too gave themselves over to other gods, allowing these spirits to take hold of their culture. In my book The Return of the Gods, I refer to these spirits as the “dark trinity.” One of these spirits, which is relevant to today’s gathering, is represented by a goddess known as Ashtoreth in the Bible, Astarte in Phoenicia, and Ishtar in Babylon. She was the goddess of sexual immorality, and when America began turning away from God, the spirit of Ishtar entered, leading to a sexual revolution.
Ishtar was a prostitute goddess, and her influence brought sex outside of marriage and into mainstream culture. We’ve witnessed the sexualization of our society, the weakening of marriage, and the destruction of families. In ancient Greece, she was celebrated as the “sacred harlot,” and from the Greek word for prostitute, we derive the term “pornography.” Ishtar used pornography to seduce entire nations.
Her influence went beyond sexuality. In her ancient inscriptions, it is written, “I am a woman, I am a man.” She blurred the lines of gender, turning men into women and women into men. This spirit, now embedded in our culture, is waging war on gender, manhood, and womanhood. Ishtar seeks to strip men of their masculinity, fatherhood, and marriage, while simultaneously taking women away from their femininity, motherhood, and marital roles. Her goal is to confuse, bend, and destroy the distinctions between male and female.
In ancient times, Ishtar’s priests were men who dressed as women and performed in her temples, with families bringing their children to witness. These practices have returned, with some of her priests even undergoing surgical transitions to appear as women. Today, the spirits are especially targeting children, understanding that if they can possess the younger generation, they can control the future and the nation. In ancient times, Ishtar possessed a priesthood; now, these spirits seek to possess entire generations of children.
We are in a spiritual battle, as the Bible tells us: “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world.”
